Bootlick Mick Gets His Beltway Media Earl Scheib...

...for that extra hard, glass-like finish and added durability!

And I finally find a use for that shitty, Plastic Wrap filter in Photoshop Elements!

From Media Matters:

CBS News' hiring of Mick Mulvaney is an embarrassment

Donald Trump became the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice, and his presidency concluded when an angry mob he incited with lies stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overthrow American democracy. But some mainstream news outlets still just can’t help themselves from rehabilitating his cronies.

CBS News is the latest to risk its credibility in this fashion. The network announced on Tuesday that it had hired Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s former chief of staff, as a contributor. “So happy to have you here, … you’re the guy to ask about this,” anchor Anne-Marie Green said while introducing him for his debut segment criticizing President Joe Biden’s proposal to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans...

The judges will, of course, allow the use of the word "embarrassment" in this context.  Also, "shameful", "perverse" and "grotesque abuse of power".  Because this hire by CBS is all of those things.

The one word that the judges would not have allowed is "surprise", because at this late date, no one has any business being surprised that the zombie corpse of the Fourth Estate would do such a thing.

In fact, an excellent case can be made (and has been made on this 'umble blog over and over again) that the only consistent service the mainstream media has provided decade after decade --

-- is the laundering of the reputations of the worst scumbags and cronies in politics and the media.

How many times did David Gregory use his seat on Meet the Press to dig Newt Gingrich out of yet another political grave, dust him off and set him loose on the public once again?

How many career reups (long before Trump and before his present incarnation as MSNBC's in-house Hero of the Resistance) was Bloody Bill Kristol given by every-fucking-body?

How many times did Steve Schmidt very publicly set his dick on fire, and then have it doused and all mention of it banished to the Unmentionable Zone by Nicolle Wallace's magic wand?

How easily were the despicable records of Matthew Dowd 1.0 (hate-peddling George Bush campaign manager) and Matthew Dowd 2.0 (undisputed King of Toxic Both Siderism) memory holed in order to find a place at the cable news trough for Matthew Dowd 3.0 (Bible-verse spouting fraud and guy who is hopping mad at all this Both Siderism)?

How about the entire stable of monsters and degenerates to whom Chuck Todd lends the tattered shreds of NBC's credibility every Sunday?

And what about this Liberal-bashing war pimp, turned Both Siderist killbot, turned marriage-at-all-costs-for-the-Poors (but who is still a compulsive Both Siderist), turned obviously-sad-bastard-divorced-guy-but-refuses-to-admit-it guy (but who is still a compulsive Both Siderist), turned I-dumped-my-wife-for-my-much-younger-research-assistant-but-Jebus-approves guy (but who is still a compulsive Both Siderist),  turned humility-mongering amateur youth pastor (but who is still a compulsive Both Siderist)?

And by Euclid, Newton and Lovelace, have mathematicians even been able to calculate the number of mulligans, do-overs and second chances this simpleton will be granted before he goes to that big Pulitzer Committee in the sky?

And as we all know, this is just the tiniest fraction of the real picture.  The abattoir of journalism as seen throught a keyhole.  Because at this point, making a list of all the offenders and all their offenses and all their enablers would be the work of several lifetimes.

And I think we're all old enough to know that even if such a list were created, brandished and read aloud ceaselessly --

-- in every available forum and at every opportunity it wouldn't make the slightest difference.

Because boys and girls, there is a Club...

...And We Ain't In It
