Never underestimate the Republican party's capacity to continually recycling its losers.  Over there, the dead don't die.  They just exit the stage and take lessons in how to better appeal to the base by appearing more human (Nixon) or more aggressively anti-government (Reagan) or more severely conservative (Romney) or less hostile to the hardcore Conservative evangelical base (McCain).

Then -- bingo! -- there they are. Resurrected.  Reborn.  Republican. And so much worse than their first time around the track because now they have got it though their heads what the base really wants and they give it to 'em, raw and red..

That changed over the weekend. The Florida legislature wrapped up its 60-day session on Friday after compiling a breathtaking record of conservative accomplishment. 

Never gonna let you down

 Tort reform. School choice. Tax relief. A pushback on ESG from the pension system and CRT from the classroom. Bans on Chinese land purchases and “reassignment” surgery for minors. Serious efforts to lower drug prices without crimping research incentives, and to impose the death penalty more frequently for heinous crimes. All that and more. Some will say, too much more. 

Never gonna run around and desert you...

This quibbling may turn out to be no more than quiddity.

A new bill in Florida would require bloggers writing about Ron DeSantis to register with the state or be fined.

The bill was introduced in the Florida Senate on February 28 by GOP lawmaker Jason Brodeur. S.B. 1316 would require any blogger who writes about DeSantis — and is paid for their work — to register with the state ethics commission or the Florida Office of Legislative Services. They must do so within five days of their first post. 

Bloggers would also be required to register with the state if they write anything about Florida's lieutenant governor, a cabinet officer, or any member of the Florida legislature, per the bill. 

S.B. 1316 would mandate that bloggers submit monthly reports about their work if they write about elected officials, including how much payment they received for their articles, rounded to the nearest $10, and the name of the "individual or entity" who paid them...
