Oligarchonomics

From Business Insider:

Mitch McConnell says the labor shortage will be solved when people run out of stimulus money because Americans are 'flush for the moment'

Needless to say McConnell is wrong:

Economists have identified a multitude of reasons for the labor shortage: People moved away from locations with open positions; parents haven't been able to return to work as they deal with ongoing pandemic uncertainty; and the open roles might not be the right fit — in terms of skills or pay — for people looking to switch jobs.

These reasons suggest possible solutions other than McConnell's plan to wait out savings. Businesses could offer higher wages and more flexible workplaces, and even tweak job descriptions and requirements to attract a larger pool of potential employees.

But when haven't Republicans blamed the lazy poor for every problem under the sun?

McConnell opposed President Joe Biden's stimulus law, which passed with only Democratic votes in March 2021 after two previous rescue packages approved by the Trump administration. Republicans have long blamed that $1,400 direct payment to Americans for worsening inflation and helping keep people out of the workforce.

I guess covid is only real for Mitch when he's afraid of catching it.

Not just #MoscowMitch...this is why the Fed is engineering the punitive recession they're working on. The beatings will continue until the proles remember their place again, and if that requires crashing the economy so that Mitch and his ilk can institute the Turd Reich so be it.

there are many reasons that the right embraces trumpism, lying and hate and fear....but the big one is they need emotion for their insoluble problems because there are no fixes...

the democrats have many issues they'd like addressed that HAVE solutions...civil rights, compassionate social policies, weapons control and climate amelioration. loss of 'assumed' position and absolute dislike of sharing with 'them' are their basic issues...their position was imaginary (dependent on the lesser being to know their place..) and we've cut government to the point of it being nationally ineffective without debt..norquist's wet dream.

what is left is negative emotions that need explaining and rather than spend 150 an hour whining to a shrink they unleash their negative emotions and fox is there to tell them who to hate...the problems they have are not fixable and will lead to, as the gop wishes to more and more angst...and so it goes.

You mean people are still flush with their $1400? Is this a loaves & fishes thing?
