Liz Cheney, Resistance Hero

Here we find Dick Cheney's spawn one year ago forcefully arguing that the "extreme partisanship" Democrats had shown by trying to cook up some bullshit reason to get rid of Donald Trump "from Day One" had finally peaked with their attempt to impeach and remove him over a bunch of made-up nonsense.

An "extreme partisanship" which was so dangerous that it imperiled our fragile republic!

Golly.

And it took me more than a few minutes to find it, because this morning, no matter what variation of search parameters I tried (Example: "Trump 2019 impeach Russia Liz Cheney") what I got was page after page after page of this:

And just like that the media moved past the barely-remembered shadow of Darth Cheney to anoint his daughter, Liz Skywalker, as the New Hope of American democracy!

She is the salvation of the Party of Lincoln.  She "reminds me of Margaret Thatcher".  Here is the perfect Republican Tur-Duck-En of what all the Very Serious People are falling all over themselves to say today:  Joe Scarborough retweeting Peggy Noonan lauding the leadership of Liz Cheney.

Here is Steve Schmidt this very morning describing the two parties that are now staring each other down in the House of Representatives.

Also, sing it with me once again, all of the madness and depravities of the GOP began five years ago.  And in the case of Liz Skywalker, recorded history began less than a week ago and beyond that is naught but fog and monsters.

Schmidt:  Before we talk about reconciliation, we must talk about accountability. We must talk about justice. And we must talk about the punishment for the violence done to the government of the United States. There are only two ways to win a fight. You can bring your opponent to submission or your opponent can bring you to exhaustion. When you think about losing a fight through exhaustion, you think about the United States and Iraq or Afghanistan or in Vietnam. When you think about submission, you think about what happened to the South in the Civil War, Germany and Japan. So our offer on the table for the seditionist is a fight where we will bring you to submission. This must be crushed. This must be annihilated.

Cast your mind back to a time not so long ago when Liberals were sound the alarm about the horrifying reality of the GOP that was hiding in plain sight.  Now imagine the pearl-crushing, fainting-couch-flopping fury such Liberals would have had to endure from people like Steve Schmidt if we had used words like "crush" and "annihilate" when talking about what needs to happen to the GOP?

Schmidt:  This illiberalism, this undemocratic moment must be hit head-on. The "democracy" side of the debate cannot be the gentle side. And we should make no mistake when we look about the House of Representatives about two sides.

Anyone out there damnfool enough to wager that Steve's gonna say, "The Democrats who voted unanimously to take down Trump twice in two years are obviously the leaders of the Forces of Light, and the Republicans who voted 100% last year not to impeach Trump and 95% this year to keep him in power are clearly the leaders of  the Forces of Darkness."?

Because he's not.

Schmidt:  Liz Cheney is the leader of the Conservatives.  And she is a 'democrat', small 'd'. She believes in democracy. Kevin McCarthy is the leader of the House autocrats. His position is an immoral one, an unamerican one. His position must be defeated.

Sorry, Democrats, you don't exist at all.

Schmidt:  What may well happen is the autocrats roll over the vestable (sp?) democrats in the Republican conference as we go into the primaries in 2022 like Wehrmacht did the Belgian Army did in 1940. We'll have to beat the crazy candidates in general elections.

I don't disagree, but if were looking at years or decades of the GOP monster machine spewing out "crazy candidates" (as it has already done for decades, apparently unbeknownst to Mr. Schmidt) who exactly does he imagine the "We" to be in "We'll have to beat the crazy candidates in general elections."

Schmidt:  But over time, as the crazier candidates are picked off in the general elections, the power of this movement will shrink. But we are in for a long fight. It will not last weeks, months. It will last years, maybe decades. But the pro-democracy side can never, ever lose a presidential election again to the autocratic side that, if it gets power again, will never yield again in the country.

And here comes the Great Reset.  The declaration that 2016 is the new Year Zero.  A Very Big Lie which, if you listen, you can hear coming out of the mouths of virtually every pundit and every Never Trumper with access to a microphone.

Schmidt:  That is the lesson of the Trump presidency. And we are well past the hour where it is tolerable for people to be naïve about what has been staring us in the face for five years.

I know you'll find this hard to believe but there was a time when people had whatchacall "memories" and didn't fall for this kind of "No, really, those former bad guys are the good guys now!" bullshit.

But that was all long ago in a political galaxy far away.

In our galaxy in this Year Zero Plus Five of 2021, we have a whole new set of Rules of Redemption.  And those rules are very clear that saying discouraging words about Donald Trump is the shibboleth -- the magic code that grants anyone ouchless absolution and premium lifeboat seating no matter who you are of what you have said or done before this very moment.

Not my rules, mind you.  In fact I objected to them very strongly, because as much as I believe in absolution, I also know that absolution that is not preceded by sincere confession, repentance and atonement is bullshit.

But I was overruled, so those are the rules now.

Ergo Liz Cheney now not only a Resistance Hero First Class, but apparently our new fearless leader.

Behold, a Tip Jar!

For 4 years republicans have been saying that they may not agree with Trump's vulgarity, his write. supremacy swimming, his presidential shouting to fire a single black football player/ Well he is too passive with Russia but they were willing to revoke the veto proof sanctions on Putin for his attack on our election because Trump 's policy was to do so.

They stand with Trump policy on caging children and kidnapping children of immigrants with Big GOP government.

Go through Trump's policies and see what the GOP means when they say they agree with his policies but not Trump's insanity?
GDP in toilet, Unemployment through the rof, massive spending debt, Socialism poured onto Farmers, Stock market, big coo prorations.

Manafort's not once but multiple times giving internal campaign polling data on battle ground states so Russia can more purposely attack the election. Extorting Ukraine. Multiple attempt directly from the Trumps Mouth, to rover turn the election in his favor by GOP officials in states.

How the republicans back the Trump policy of his lie that COVID is a HOAX, Going away.

Inject bleach as a presidential policy.

But for some reason this is an acceptable excuse for Republicans in regards to Abetting his criminal activities by calling them policies. I agree with his Tax Cut Policy that brang us the greatest economy ever?
Is unemployment higher than four years ago? Are wages down more than 4 years ago.

How about Trump's great policy on repeal and replace the ACA.
That only had repeal and did not root and branch it out, some retained it under that policy and the over all ignoring of the entire thing. THERE WAS now REPLACEMENT AND NEVER HAS BEEN.

The media swallows so much of this and regurgitated it out to us as if we are their little hatchlings.
