My Legacy Is Finally Secure

From Huffington Post:

Where Did ‘Dumpster Fire’ Come From? Where Is It Rolling?

🔥 🔥 🔥 The trash insult that’s burning up the internet right now. 🔥 🔥 🔥

...
Dumpster fire’s origins remain rather nebulous. The article Sherwood found seems fairly representative of many early uses: It’s about pop culture. One of the earliest Urban Dictionary definitions of the phrase, from 2008, specifies: “In entertainment or sports, a laughably poor performance.” Other early examples show up in voicey political blogs, like this 2006 screed about the Republican Party’s ethical scandals...

That "2006 screed"?

That's me.

Actually, I've coined a lot of words and phrases and metaphors over the years, like "Republicans stand on the Overpass of History lobbing cinder blocks into traffic."

Hell, I even wrote a post about it once upon a time :-)
Coinage

The 10th blogiversary fundraiser continues with the Town Hall Year of 2010.

As it turned out, over the last 10 years, I not only had fun with music and poems and writing and graphics and podcasting, but I also coined a lot of terms, most of which didn't stick.

Still, as long as I'm amused :-)

There was Christopath.

David Brooks: The Plutocrat's Beat Poet

Rovine spongiform encephalopathy ™ (Wherein the Rove mindset continues to eat the brain right out of Conservatism's collective skull, while everyone agrees that Karl Rove specifically and Conservatives generally will never be asked any hard questions about anything because the past is stinky and dark and nobody really knows what happened anyway.)

Burning Man for Birchers.

Half Fox and Half Free.

And Strategic Forgettery among many others.

...
Some people might say that in a world overflowing with really shitty and wildly overcompensated writers, it's kinda odd that in all the years I have been at this I have never been so much as offered any kind of paid writing gig anywhere.

Yes, some people might indeed say that :-)

I totally stole your "something something X, something something Y" and use it all the time.

And I believe that Pierce borrows your "Oh! Oh! I do! Oh! I do I do I do I do! Call on me" type response on occasion in his posts, that you used in that 2006 piece.

Thanks DG!

But Huffpost has "voicey"?

DG, you may not have a paying gig, but I have been more than happy to toss you cash on a regular basis, if for no other reason than for your most delicious description of the GOP anywhere: The tribe that rubs shit in its hair. I toss that out to my teabagger friends when they lamely try to make a point using some fabricated factoid gleaned from faux news. It drives them nuts, so it must strike a nerve. I appreciate your writing and phrase coinage. As a fan of HST (both versions), I find your scathing and pointed analysis refreshingly accurate. Keep up the good work and keep on swinging for the fences during this target rich, home run derby called the Republican Convention.

And this is why I'm so frickin honored that you have used my moniker Ron "Severe Dementia" Fournier from time to time. It's like some moron in the lower minor leagues getting a compliment from Mike Trout.

...Hey don't forget Etch-a-Sketch ! You came up with that long before the rMoney campaign did, let alone the many other people reusing it in recent times without attribution (of course) nor recompense (of course).

Still, whether that lonely 'screed' link (..and F#$@ HuffPo for that anyway) brings you can $$-bearing traffic, please keep up the great work DG!

Logically speaking.
Lower case spelling is more directly efficient.
It is impressive to comment on such a famous persons blog.

Please, May I have your autograph. On a blank check?

Seriously, I fear for you. This might be how Trump water, Trump toilet paper, Trump chocolates, Trump golf balls, Trump Towers and the entire evil empire began.

Please be careful. If I see Driftglass water, Driftglass golf balls or Driftglass towers. It will be too late for you.

My favorite is "The tribe that rubs shit in their hair".

Oh crap, I think I used "insufferable etch-a-sketch" once without attribution. I'd better go back and fix that.
