"Blogs (Three Different Ones)"

Oh, like I could resist a post title like that.

Well this is kind of odd, and I’m kind of wiped out, so I’ll keep it brief, and yet so very shameless.

You may or may not know that I put together a photomontage of current events set to Pick Floyd’s “Us and Them” which apparently really touched a nerve.

And you may or may not know that reader Joe Max set it to the actual music and made it dance.

But what I didn’t know until today was that reader Taps7734 also turned his hand to the task of making the pictures move and sing, and created a fine and tonally different movie of his own.

And as much as this risks flogging a point that was already made, so move ON already, well that's as may be, but I find this so...interesting. This thing seems to just keep bubbling along, being discovered by people in one cybercommunity, and then passed to another. It’s fascinating to watch from this end.

So in addition to the original (GAF ViewMaster Version), and Joe Max’s fine effort (Alternative Radio Cut), you now have Taps7734’s Long Play, FM Drive Time Friendly version available, for which I want to say “Thank You” with all my heart, and to which I can only add two things:

First, once the idea for the title for this post -- "Blogs (Three Different Ones)" -- popped into my head, I was literally helpless. I fought “A Nice Pair” to a white-knuckled draw when it was only two posts, but three? I was powerless I tell’s ya! And so immodest or not...I blame a misspent youth of shotgunning pipes, smart, stoner friends and talking deep into the night to the soundtrack of Pink Floyd and David Bowie for this post.

Oh, and of course I also blame Clinton.

Second, I’ve had a letter or two or more about a “tip jar”, especially in the last eight days. I appreciate the sentiment and am an unabashed-but-not-run-amok capitalist at heart, so not to worry: once I figure out how your Primitive Earthling “Currency” System works, I shall take full advantage.

(Although if I understand the email correctly, I stand to collect a substantial amount of money -– Did I already say substantial ? -- if I help one Howgul Abul Arhu get his gelt –- all $47,500,000.00 of it -– out of a“suspense account” at The Central Bank Of Nigeria Apex Bank. Ol’ Driftglass will be living the Large Life of Riley once I collect my 25% helper-outer fee, and all my good friend Howgul [To which the answer is, "Fine. Thanks for asking. And how your gul?"] needs are my bank account numbers, bankers name, various private phone number and so forth. Indoor plumbing here I come, and nothing but top-shelf hookers from now on for this lad!)
