Chris Sununu is betting his political future on the fantasy that, if he can just keep smirking and shrugging and "Aw, shucks, he didn't mean it"-ing Trump's unhinged lunacy...
...and if he can stop Republicans from Republicanning in public, or at least stop the media talking about it, which is just as efficacious...
...then once Trump is gone and the GOP is in rubble, the grateful meathead masses, and a mainstream media desperate to memory-hole their own complicity, will hoist him up on their shoulders and carry him all the way to the White House.
Who knows? It's worked before.

You can't spell Republican without the hard R.
The Liz Cheney wing of the Republicans party would prefer the bigotry, racism, sexism, be spoken of, if it must be spoken of at all, in an elegant euphemistic way. That DonOld Trump proffers it up so raw and bloody is so déclassé.
