Professional Left Podcast Episode #815: No Fair Remembering That Other Al Gore Debate

"I'm not shy about heated debate or passionate discourse, but when people get crazy or rude, that's a buzz kill. There's got to be a better code of conduct, some basic etiquette." -- Mos Def

That's a real mystery.

Also - great Ceiling Cat - when the WALL STREET JOURNAL has a less obviously tilted average of articles than does the fuckin' New York Times...

Here's the real pants kick. I read the Times daily - not as a subscriber, but by using Reader mode to skim as much of the articles as I can (they're cracking down on that). I use Google News as an aggregator. From this, I can tell you that the Times does, unequivocally, engage in quality journalism on many non-political topics, and even sometimes (much more rarely) in the realm of US politics. They know how to do it.

They just don't.

I've given up speculation on why the NYT and all the outlets that follow its lead engage in this horseshit. I can only call out that, using Cory Doctorow's exceptionally apt word, the legacy outlets are the leading edge of journalism's enshittification.

Thanks for all you do.

No matter if it is fair remembering all the years of President Biden in the public arena as senator, VP and president. Recalling all the whirlwind tornadoes of Trump's public presence in the public eye.
I have already seen more than enough of the two to make any and all critical considerations of each of them. Using my own reason and judgement of their effects on the country.
Including on myself.
With that said, I may record the debate tonight and perhaps watch it later at my leisure. I haven't found much reason to watch the debate to look for something to improve knowledge to make the best informative voting choice.
I expect President Biden to be serious, to make the correct important issues put forward he represents. For Donny, I expect slander derogatory statements accusations with no proof and lots of MAGA triggering words.
NO, I don't expect he will speak of batteries and sharks, Washing machines. Nor will he offer to remove his shirt to display his wounds of victimhood that no president in history ever endured. Even JFK and Lincoln.
If you do not mind I will catch your review of the debate and consider it from there. Recording the debate I can always review and contemplate the post media reviews. Oh Yeah, I have memory banks in my head that news media cannot persuade me into believing their takes of miraculous imaginary takes they might air.
CNN decided fact checking is not an option which provides the liar to lie freely and openly and boldly. It is impossible to escape Trump's hyperbolized devil egg stories of a mentally distressed mind that only a MAGA cult follower that doesn't listen to its cult leaders words. Oly hear the sound of his voice blathering aimlessly. That sooths their lost souls. It is their way of staying away from the light.
The media has made a reality show promotion of the debate.
Not much they will offer me that defines some missing difference between the president and the Felon.
Sure, I know. For this media it is unfair to call him a felon but it is fair and respectful to Donny to make false accusation and bear false witness.
I do not require entertainment for my considerations of how I vote and Trump will be there to entertain and that is CNN's objective to grab some ratings.
It is ashamed the SCOTUS could not release their ruling on presidential immunity for Trump and for Trump only. Republicans acting as justices wearing robes protecting their fellow republican to further their perceived entitled powers.
If the SCOTUS released that ruling. it would peak my curiousity to watch the debate because of tis issue alone.

Was invited to a debate watch gig I just do not amuse myself with politics like as if it was a sports championship game.
