I'm a musician, and the only member of my immediate family not born in fucking Oklahoma. Which is why I tend to steer away from country music for my own listening enjoyment. Yeah, I know there is good stuff, yeah I've heard it, yeah I can play most of it. I came up in Eureka, CA, where if you wanted any gigs, you fucking played country. It's different up there now, but that's another story.
This is about Taylor Swift. I haven't heard much of her prodigious output because she started in country and morphed to pop, both categories outside my usual areas of musical consumption. I have seen enough of her to say with confidence that she is the real deal. A genuine talent. I hate that word, it tends to deny the goddamn work involved in musical ability. She has very obviously put in that work. I have nothing but respect for her as a performer and a musician. She's named after James Taylor, for fuck's sake.
This rant isn't about that, either. As far as I can tell, Taylor Swift has elevated herself into the rarefied space occupied by just a handful of artists who through their work have made a massive dent in the way music is made and sold. Think Frank Zappa, Prince, Todd Rundgren, and the grunge movement from the '90s, all of whom had to bend the industry to their will to make their output real.
Taylor Swift is a goddamn genius. When they weaseled away her publishing, she said "Fine. I'll just re-record my albums, and since I've been touring that material for years, the new versions will kick the old ones asses."
No wonder the right is terrified of her. If she did something similar to electoral politics, the goddamn Republicans would never win another election.
I don't think she will, or that anyone can for that matter, but that kind of raw power in a female form scares the shit out of the party that wants to own women.

Thank you again for the podcast. Briana has gone to northern California again to work on securing our living situation in Miranda, so it's just me and the cat holding down the fort again. It fucking snowed, but not enough to keep her from driving out of it this morning.

Hi guys, great work as ever, however, I've heard commentary that because Haley has been backed by McConnell's wing of the party their plan, or hope more like it, is that Trump's legal issues and unstable behaviour force him out and all she has to do is not quit and she'll become the nominee by default. I mean, it's A plan just not a particularly good one.

Can I secede from the United States as a "Sovereign Citizen" and not be subjected to any laws of America which I live?
2- Niki, you said recently that you have no comment about Trump's sexual predatory behaviors and that you haven't paid attention to any legal indictments or legal suits against Trump.
) If you cannot keep up with news and issues , how could you have any awareness to sign any law into being as president?
3- Why is there only border immigration problems with Texas and Mexico?
- Are you aware there ae other states that have border with Mexico? Can you name them? Why are you not concerned with immigrants in these states as well?
4- Why are you ashamed to run and use your True family name before it was changed when you immigrated to America?
5- Id it difficult to hide your racism when people outside of the GOP see and hear you speak on the subject.
