I don't envy Ms. Yaccarino her new job. She's inheriting a monstrosity.
Driftglass, you may be right that too much damage has been done. If Ms. Yaccarino immediately lowers the boom on RWNJ spouting misogyny, racism, anti-Semitism, etc. and kicks them off the platform, that would be a good indication that she actually intends to try and salvage the thing.
And hey, Elon can always just buy Parler if he still wants an online hate sewer as his personal playground.
I wouldn't bet either way.

What I am watching is the billionaires who own the GOP and got them to stack the SCOTUS with bought and owned republicans that will do/ rule as the billionaires say.
Got them to cut taxes for the very wealthy and they use that money (that would be tax dollars) to buy more republicans.
We watched Elon the mighty (another Trump genius type) use that money to buy Social Media (Twitter) to break up the people from communicating and inserting the dregs and vile violent into the platform to make the social media a dangerous unhealthy place and cause them to leave the platform.
I contend Elon and his financers intent was to ruin and take away the nets social town hall for people. Disrupting what they feel is the LET, the liberals.
We now see a billionaire buy CNN, and plans to make it a conservative network like FOX but without the long time luggage.
The billionaire who bought prides himself an libertarian. Let me tell you, only billionaires can afford to live somewhat like a libertarian. Yet he has been a big republican donor and spender so he funded conservatism against his libertarianism. Figure that one.
How does libertarianism support forcing others to do as you want? Conservatism can go back in time ,say to the Inquisition and try to stay (conserve) that moment in time and life). They both demand they make the rules and laws of life for everyone but them to live by and obey.
I feel these Billionaires as the one who bought CNN is not a libertarian but dreams of returning to the paradise of the Hoover years.
You know, just like the Russian oligarchs. And all the rest of Russian government from its DOMA to its courts is all a mirage that just does what the oligarchs tell them for the people to somewhat be fooled there is a government.
Control the media, control the courts, control the legislatures. Brainwash the dupes you can. Ise those dupes to hate and commit violence on those you cannot brain wash.
If they accomplish what they want. We and our children and our children's children will be slaves building pyramids. for the God's of wealth.
