-- you and I are old;
Old age hath yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
...
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

President Biden brought adulthood and a few other things to the SOTU.
He was clear, precise, alert and provided direction and accomplishment.
"No one added more to the deficit than my predecessor that let the deficit go up 4 yes in a row. Previous president added 35% of the entire present deficit today. In the last two years, my Adm cut the deficit by $1.7 trillion. That is without the GOP taking the debt ceiling hostage.
----- Those are the facts, check it out" Said the president
Biden did call out in a keenly playful trolling manner, the GOP Debt ceiling opportunity wish to gut Social Security and Medicare. Causing republicans to display their disrespectful childish spoiled brat behavior. And the Pres. , he countered by saying he enjoys conversions. Because the loudest pouting GOP over their push to cut it as ransom for the hostage debt ceiling. Those loud posting whiners showed they ae the ones wanting to cut it. They did not like being called out in public.
* But what about that GOP rebuttal by Sarah Hucklebee Ganders;
Putting that needle in the vein and pumping in the dystopian woke fantasy world of her party that has FOX and others portray. What a gal.
I guess if George Santos , Trump and others can be elected over voter self loathing. Why not Aunt Hucklbee
From Mayberry.
Ok two things ~
(1) These are among my favorite poetic passages. I read the last part of Ulysses aloud sometimes just to hear the words ring in the air. (YES I'm a fucking nerd.)
(2) Good fit to the SOTU. Good callout.
Happy Wednesday and thanks for all you do!
perfect!
I read the last part of Ulysses aloud sometimes just to hear the words ring in the air.
I read it aloud just now, in my best impersonation* of Commander (later Ambassador) Jeffrey D. Sinclair, as portrayed by the late great Michael O'Hare.
* Which is probably not that good really, but hopefully a listener would recognize my intent.
