A moment of remembrance during the House floor debate on the ACA for me was,

" here is your republican health care plan.

If you get il, Die and Die quickly "

The ACA is socialism and Veterans Health care is not?

Health care of congressmen and their staff is not socialism either?

My stroke was in late April of 2008. I got out of the hospital in mid July.
I watched the 2008 election fight while I watched the pile of bills from various providers on my drawing desk grow and grow. Eventually, (after the 120 days required, but nobody told me that) my Medi-Cal was approved and the quarter million dollar pile of bills became "medical records" that I didn't even bother taking with me when I had to move in 2013.
Right now, the closest actual hospital (like where you get taken after a car accident) is in Fresno. That's like an hour by car. The urgent care facility, courtesy of the ACA is run by Camarena Health, who also employ my primary care physician, and is about fifteen minutes down the mountain in Oakhurst.
Oakhurst isn't like a real town or anything, and the office where my doctor works is in Madera, also about an hour from here. I have only physically seen him twice, after which the plague hit and all subsequent visits have been over the phone. He wants me to actually show up in May so he can listen to my heart, which seems entirely reasonable.
I do miss Highland Hospital in Oakland a little, as they will take care of you pretty much whatever your circumstances, financial or otherwise, but because of them and the ACA I know how to get what I need from the healthcare system out here in the boonies.
