This Friday, the Professional Left Podcast will mark our 12th year coming to you each and every week from the middle of Middle America.
Which is something like 120 years in podcast years.
Coincidentally, this week The Bulwark will mark an anniversary. This will be their 3rd year of podcasting, and honestly, the fact that, right out of the box and after a two week vacation Charlie Sykes began immediately playing the "OMG this Resistance stuff is exhausting!" pipe organ cracked me up.
Also, as they began the ritual valorization of Liz Cheney, I was once again reminded that they really should change the name of the thing to "The Liz Cheney Fan-Dome".
Today they were valorizing Cheney for being on one of the Sunday shows and saying this when pressed about the future of her Republican Party:
"I think the country needs a strong Republican Party going forward, but our party has to choose," she said. "We can either be loyal to Donald Trump or we can be loyal to the Constitution, but we cannot be both."
Which is true.
It is also a realization which has arrived far, far too late to do any good.
It also sounds eerily similar to what some disreputable Liberal blogger was saying exactly 16 years ago this month:
Because in the Dubya Era a person can be a Good American, or a Good Republican, but they can no longer be both.
Which was a sentiment commonly shared and openly spoken about in the Liberal blogosphere all those many years ago, and which was so transgressive and scandalous that it virtually guaranteed that none of us would ever appear anywhere in the mainstream media, and certain not asked to appear on the Sunday shows to share our opinions about the future of the Republican Party.
I'm sure there's a lesson in there somewhere.
UPDATE: To clarify, this week with be the 12th anniversary of The Professional Left Podcast, not my blog. This coming April will mark my 17th year at the blogging coal-face. Which is a lot of years.

As for the Liz Cheney.
Heroism is not due for performing what the norm expects.
She is doing the correct thing after the fact.. I will give her that.
There is the illustrious "BUT,
If she and other GOPers had did something about the Russia thingy. If she did not approve their guy of extorting Ukraine. Jan 6 could have been prevented.
I do expect Liz at some point to revert to her conservative knife wares and stab people in the chest if not the back. It is her nature. Liz Cheney's serious participation in the Jan 6 investigation can be blown up by her at any moment of GOP partisanship.
It would provide her a way back into the GOP QANON Tree House.
