Both Siderism Cannot Triumphantly Return...

 ...because Both Siderism never left.

From Politico:

Christie steps out of Trump’s shadow — and stokes 2024 buzz

Chris Christie is delivering a major speech Thursday at the Reagan Library sketching out a vision for the Republican Party after Trump's loss.

This is the quote that caught social media's attention (emphasis added)

While Christie told POLITICO in an interview that his speech would not be focused on Trump, he plans to stress that Republicans “first and foremost” need to be “the party that’s perceived to be telling the American people the truth”

And while that's pretty awful, this, my darlings, is the Phrase that Pays (emphasis added):

Now, the two-term former governor is moving on after Trump’s 2020 loss. Christie — whose forthcoming book is titled “Republican Rescue: Saving the Party From Truth Deniers, Conspiracy Theorists, and the Dangerous Policies of Joe Biden” — said he would also speak Thursday about “where we have to go as a party if we’re going to be able to win back the voters that we so clearly lost in 2020.”

"And here's a long distance dedication going out to both-siderists everywhere: Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, playing their classic 'How Can I Miss You When You Won't Go Away'?"

I like to focus on the future and I have been puzzling over how they are going to both sides it when the ethnic cleansings start in earnest. In order to help our both side friends let me suggest they accuse Democrats of deliberately destroying perfectly innocent bullets by getting in their way. After all for Republicans every bullet is sacred.

Ah, Politico. Trying to make President Chris Christie happen since 2008.

The very next day after Christie gives his speech at the Reagan Library.. And you do know republicans believe speech is money that you talk with.

Vladimir Putin will also speak at the Reagan library as well. Maria Butina will be his opening warm up guest star.

To a sold out republican crowd.

When I say sold out. I mean they are still selling out America.

Chris Christie (I am local to this phenom) is a study in how Trump exists because he did it by personality and not in any way by competence. He resonated for two whole terms because people didn't recognize he was what he was until they saw him actually be Trump's manservant, and saw him laugh too long at the masters jokes and cape too hard for the masters foibles. Trump's kiss up punch down weakness and manhood-gauging political style set him up for derision, but we never really exploited that he's a big old damp diaper of a man. But Trump 2024 might get that exact treatment now that it's established we don't need any of his voters. They are just flotsam.

If Christie ran in the primary, he'd be annihilated again by the GOP pack on that very score. He can't play Trump's friend both ways. But both of the ways he's been Trump's friend are the very worst.

The horror is that Christie is only mildly less execrable than Trump. He may even be more so in that he is more competent at grifting because he has important cognitive functions intact, like planning and execution, unlike Trump.
