It is Afghanistan?
Not really.
Is it America foreign policy generally?
Again. not really.
The fundamental theme here is that people who were given a commanding position in the public square -- a position of importance and trust -- and who used that position to fuck up so grotesquely and so consistently over the years are not the people who anyone should be listening to now. The fact that they were so wrong for long -- that they so badly fucked up at their one job -- should automatically disqualify from any such participation.
And yet, as we have documented year after year at this disreputable little
blog out here in the middle of Middle America, there is almost no one in the
Beltway media who has been more consistently and aggressively bad at his
one job than Mr. Matthew Dowd.
Which is almost certainly why, as Mr. Dowd executes this latest complete character rewrite, he felt it necessary to erase as much of his own public record as possible.
And so it goes.

Watching Dowd make this point next to Brian Stelter and Amanda Marcotte on CNN (via Crooks & Liarss) was a wry source of amusement.
I caught Amanda's wide grin at one point and wondered how hard she had to work to suoress a giggle or an outright guffaw.
Local Moving Companies On CNN (via Crooks & Liarss), watching Dowd make this claim alongside Brian Stelter and Amanda Marcotte was a sardonic source of humour.

I think the media should institute a version for employment hiring and firing. "America has talent".
It is not like America doesn't have many worthy reporting/ media personalities
That for in crowd club there is only a handful of people that can perform these news room jobs.
That their inner circle are the only ones that can perform this function and anyone else, are not proven or worthy. As if it is a place of employment for wealthy children to be given a great paying job of notoriety so they can move out of the house.
You know, like placing Kavanaugh on the life time position of Supreme Court Judge.
But America does have talent and many have a basic core character of not lying for a living. Or Misleading if you want to swab butter on it.
Even their booking, Newt to this day? Why not televise Denny Hastert giving a sermon from his cell on the love for his fellow man or in his case bous.
Wrong in Afghanistan from day one?

Al Qaida had training camps in Afghanistan. After 9/11 I afreed with military assault on those Al Qaida training camps.
I was for chasing down Osama Bin Laden who was in Afghanistan. All the way up until the GW Bush Adm decided to surround Bin Laden on all three sides . leaving the Pakistani border open for Bin Laden to retreat to without consequence.
Bush said no place to hide, with us or against us. But Pakistan has Nuclear weapons. That was the difference maker and besides. Bush had close family ties with he Saudi Royal family and Bin laden was born to that family.
Once Bin Laden retreated into Pakistan and the Training camps were taken out and Al Qaida was mostly rounded up or killed. Mission complete and time to leave Afghanistan.
Why is that so elusive to so many?
But all the war profiteering was maximized and 20 years later, I have a GOP congressman that asks the term jerking question in the news paper to his district (because he does not do town halls).
"What do we tell the Gold Star families" he asks us?
What does he tell the 4 ambushed and killed Army special force , 4 killed in Niger?
What does he tell the veteran with a prosthetic leg replacing his leg blown off in Iraq that has to stand in a line to vote in Georgia for 7 and a half hours to vote?
Those Gold Star family members that are kicked off the voting roles in t next GOP pure of the registered voting roles?
There is some shallow in the tree house club elite media that have the same old perspective the with their limited views to report and espouse.
Like the Sen Lindsey Graham announcing Joe Biden should be impeached if he leaves one person behind in Afghanistan.
