Badtux says that the corporate push to bring employees back to the office is mostly a bunch of middle managers trying to stay relevant.
He also says that without the distractions of the office he gets more shit done.
I read some of the article about suicide by overtime and went "Yup."
In 2008 the company I was working for got bought by a similar Canadian company and absorbed a local competitor and relaunched under a new name and with a new process.
Being a "supervisor", this opened up a shitload of overtime for me, and being paid $12.50/hr, I took it all.
After three months of 10 to 13 hour days that began at midnight, I had a stroke, and despite thirteen years of massive effort at recovery, I still haven't worked since then.
I'm goddamn lucky to be alive. The closest hospital to where I lived at the time just happened to have the best stroke ward and program in that part of the state. I still remember being loaded into the ambulance and asking Briana to please call my work and tell them I couldn't come in that night.
Do you suppose the goddamn Republican running to oust Lizard Cheney who just publicly admitted to impregnating a 14 year old girl when he was 18 ought not to have compared their relationship to Romeo and Juliet in light of the fact that she killed herself when she was 20?
Of course Candace Owens is headlining. That's all they have. And worse, but the worse they are, the better they seem to draw.
Paul Ryan can fuck right off.
Thank you again for the podcast. It rained yesterday, so the outside resembles a ticking fire-bomb slightly less than it did Thursday.

I have an off topic comment in the form of a question/ statement.

Since there is no filibuster to obstruct confirming any and all judges, all the way to the SCOTUS. Confirmed for life If it is a simple majority to confirm them.

Why is it not a simple majority to remove judges?

Then judges can be removed and the seat(s) re filled with each and every new Senate majority and president, right?
