Operation Streamline began in 2005. "It was created with the goal of combating drug trafficking, weapons trafficking, human smuggling, and repeat illegal immigration into the United States with the ultimate goal of achieving a 100% criminalization of unauthorized border-crossings."

People caught up in this border program are criminally prosecuted in groups of up to 70 individuals at a time. Biden, Trump, Obama and Bush II have all been in charge of the implementation of this little discussed initiative. Sadly, there is widespread agreement and too much consistency amongst the political class regarding the implementation of immigration policy on our southern border.

this is a problem...

Mitch the fuck McConnell. Sure, he's dangerous as fuck, but that doesn't mean he's smart or capable. He knows the way the senate works, as would be expected of anyone who has held the same job as long as he has, but he couldn't legislate his way out of a wet paper bag.

That whole "cancel culture so huge and pervasive as to be invisible" reminds me of Daniel Quinn, and the concept of "Mother Culture" that is one of the cornerstones of his Ishmael books.

Guns. Had 'em. Grew up with 'em. Left 'em all in Eureka when I moved to Oakland, which turned out to be a rare instance of a good decision made by me in my twenties.
I could, and indeed have, rant about guns past the 4,096 character limit in this here blog commenting software, so instead let me tell one story:
Pretty much everyone I know in the East Bay, the most liberal congressional district in the country, owns a gun. Almost every one of those gun owners has never actually shot one of their guns anywhere besides a shooting range, which is a bullshit way to shoot a gun.
Basically, it means that they've never had the opportunity to learn how to handle a firearm without supervision, which is the very skill required in a society so awash in guns as ours is.
How anyone could expect anything but mass carnage from such a situation is another of America's favorite delusions.

Yeah, the press is back screwing away at the pooch, for all of the supposedly self-serving reasons they always seem to be doing so, but at least Fox is eating shit with a shovel for a change, not that I ever watch it. Can't help but read about it, though, which I guess speaks of its continuing influence.

So some Fergus-appointed bozo has bollixed the covid money rollout to Social Security recipients such as myself. Briana got hers, and her ticket is paid, but it looks like I won't be getting mine until probably Wednesday, after which you can expect a donation.

Thank you again for the podcast. The snow has mostly melted, and I'm back to walking up to the pond and back each day, which just reminds me of how goddamn lucky we are to have moved here right before the apocalypse hit.

Here is Yastreblansky's answer to republicans (they should not be allowed to use the word "repulic" in their name any more, for all the obvious reasons) and their stupid Lunt's words "cancel culture" and the "silencing".
