You say in podcast that you wrote about a meeting of 'real' Republicans who mean to keep their GOP out of the hands of trumpy takeover.
Or maybe I have that 'xackly backwards.

Anyway here is the first and last word on any formulation of 'new' GOP naming:

February 11-12, 2021 -- The Republican Party prepares to morph into a "workers' party" (in: GENERAL ARCHIVES February 2021)
Feb 11, 2021
A "Republican Workers' Party" is as preposterous as was the National Socialist German Workers' Party.

And it comes from here: WayneMadsenReport.com
who has been blogging 18 years
that I've read him.
And is Democrat par exemplar.
And let me introduce you and your readers to his greatness.

Welp, they did it. So now that the Republican poltroons in the senate have successfully (they hope) avoided a Fergus-fueled primary challenge by selling out their country, we Democrats get to use all of that multicolored yarn the impeachment managers and their staff just gifted us to make the general election a nightmare for them that no primary fear could ever approach.
And in the process, since there are fifteen of the despicable bastards up for election next year, give Biden a filibuster proof supermajority for the second half of his first term whether he needs it or not.
Yes, the Lincoln lads were just another Republican joint, and like all such endeavors, were doomed from the beginning to self destruct from their own lack of human decency. Their bottom level mistake on that score is assuming that human decency is optional and not a tool to suppress the homicide rate as the population goes up.
You'd think they would have figured that out by now, but the money in failing to do so remains good, while it's available.
Add suppressing its availability to our to-do list... Oh yeah, HR-1 already did.
Thank you again for the podcast. We've given up searching for the bag of cookies that fell out of the shopping bag and into the snow on the way up the stairs from the car. The goddamn raccoons will probably get them before we do.

As a listener of (and sporadic donator to) the PL pod it's been my observation that it's careful to avoid the circular firing squad of going after core Dems. However, a bit of Pelosi "Both Siderism" or "siderism-adjacent" got me today. Specifically the notion that we need a "strong GOP party."

Why build their lifeboats?

Do the Red Sox ever wish for a "strong" Yankees organization? Did Captain America and Iron Man ever need a strong Thanos?

What would GOP "strength" do besides perpetuate more tax cuts, less healthcare, lower wages, slow down the COVID-relief effort, and so on?

My best diplomatic answer would be pummel them with strong, smart leftist policy. Let's force them to reorganize upon issues that matter instead of Boogeyman topics like election fraud, Antifa, flag-waving porn, and such.

Dems being sympathetic is our Achilles heel. I say we need to nudge Biden in the right direction and give him a little push.

Then roll them GOP bastards.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts--or the link where you said this before--how to "help" the GOP party. As if we bear any responsibility doing that at all.

Cheers!

According to Wikipedia, Stacey Plaskett was a Republicam who served as council on several GOP house committees until she was appointed to the Bush DOJ in the Torts Branch of the Civil Division.

Plaskett remained Republican until 2008 when she switched parties and started running for office as a Democrat.

Not trying to detract from her performance this week but as you say, history did not start in 2016. Nor did it start when Obama was elected president.

As Biden moves to stop the 4 years of seage overflow.

It will be a big deal for me to have an Attorneys General confirmed to the DOJ.

The media in general with their nausea driven account that both Dems and Repugnants over impeachment , "Just want to get it over with". is increasing sales of Sea Sick pills.
