Sadly, so much of it was bunkum.
As a lesson to all the naughty and fraidy-cat Republicans out there, Ol' Parson commenced to recountin' the story of how, early in his career, future failed one-term president George Herbert Walker Bush was tasked with purging the Birchers from the Texas GOP. And he did. Until they came back. But still, good for him.
.@jmeacham explains that Trump isn't the first time Republicans have had an authoritarian problem.

And for Parson Jon, there endeth the lesson.
I would have liked to know what Parson Jon made of the fact that, to get himself elected president, George Herbert Walker Bush hired notorious racist scumbag Lee Atwater to get the job done, but Brian Williams was apparently so occupied with the reflection of himself in the lens of the camera that he neglected to ask about it.
Sad.
Parson Jon was also deeply vexed by the takeover of the GOP by Donald Trump. He allows as how some people (Me! Me!) would argue that "takeover" is not the right word and that those people (Me! Me!) believe that Trump was the natural outcome of decades of the escalating rage, racism and paranoia of the GOP base, but dismisses this as a much more debatable proposition...apparently because the truth of it would vaporize Parson Jon's facile version of modern Republican history like cotton candy in a blast furnace.
It would have been nice if one or two of those people had been on-hand to rebut Parson Jon's flapdoodle, but apparently that is beyond the technical expertise of the MSNBC.teevee network.
Which is also sad.

If I may add to , but not pile on.
It seems Nicolle Wallace on her show (with Charlie Sykes) said,
----------"The LEFT WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG"
You read that correctly. here is the video evidence that will not be allowed in the Trump 2nd impeachment trial in the senate.

So they say we need all good Americans to stand up confront the republicans. Which means Michael Steele and Charlie Sykes who still cling to their GOP registered guns and their extreme fanatic white supremacist religion GOP club memberships.
I guess I am invited to join them in their quest for sanity?
I am astonished!
