My desk now has a dent in the exact shape of my forehead.
These last weeks, I have pondered this simple question: "WTH is with 'Claymation' Scarborough and the Sideshow's loyalty to the monster? He has turned on them completely."
My best answer: they have fallen for their own propaganda, they KNEW what they were doing was just words, and believed what they were creating wasn't real. These aren't stupid people. Not really, not THAT stupid.
Trump was a joke. His base of morons, ridiculous. Their power, reach and influence? Just owning the libs. Perfect for shitting in punch bowls at cocktail parties and tee-heeing at fashion shows. Who says a Republican can't have fun? Until it wasn't.
They have fallen in thrall of the monsters of their own imaginations. A collective hallucination made real.
The volume and density of smoke and sheer number of mirrors has in fact created something terrifying - to them. And their best strategy is not to turn off the damned smoke machines and hit the house lights, open the doors and to hose the scene down. They are hoping that, come November, Trump exits stage left, and our saviors - women and POC - will dispel the beast and that base will evaporate. They will be able to remain in the opposition, propounding the respectable Rockefeller-McCain-Lieberman Republicans who they are creating with words. Who will certainly be real, if they just Candyman Candyman Candyman enough.
