Here's a Fun Fact you kids may enjoy. Nowhere in the article which Bloody Bill Kristol is pimping --“And now we’ve arrived on the brink of an existential crisis with leadership that is utterly incapable of leading. How did we get here?...I mean us. The voters. How did we allow this?”— Bill Kristol (@BillKristol) March 20, 2020
Very interesting piece by @GreggHurwitz. https://t.co/HSPQpITpSD
We Can Wake Up Now-- does the author dare to speak the word "Republican".
We blew everything up. Now what?
Not even once.
There is, of course, a metric shit-ton of Both Siderism--
Coronavirus is not subject to spin. It can’t be blamed on the lamestream media or latent racism or the patriarchy. It doesn’t care if you’re Team NASCAR or Team Buzzfeed. It’s not concerned with how intersectional you are or if you’re white and male, or how you voted or even if you voted at all.-- but nary a whisper about the political party and the ideological movement which has spent the last 40 years creating a monster factory capable of producing Donald Trump.
So, in that spirit. allow me to repeat exactly the same question I have been publicly asking Republicans since I began blogging 15 years ago: Who the fuck is this "we" you keep talking about?
A little chunk from a March, 2006 post of mine
No “We” in America – Part I
For a long time now, the casual invocation of the term “the American people” when explaining what we as a nation do or do not believe, or will or won’t stand for -- especially by the Right, but also by the Left -- has been pissing me right off.
Because at the moment, there is no more “We” in this country.
It breaks my heart but I believe the strategic and relentless poisoning of the public well by the likes of Republican Lee Atwater, Republican Newt Gingrich, Republican Rush Limbaugh and Republican Karl Rove has done its work. And other that geographical, there are no more categories in this country to which we can apply the term "Americans" any longer.
Consider this from Tom “Captain Obvious” Friedman in the NYT several days ago as he argues from the specific (port security, about which he is dead wrong) to the general (Murrica – Shining Beacon of Tolerance.) Emphasis added by me:
My point is simple: the world is drifting dangerously toward a widespread religious and sectarian cleavage — the likes of which we have not seen for a long, long time. The only country with the power to stem this toxic trend is America. What fucking “America” are you talking about, Friedman?
People across the world still look to our example of pluralism, which is like no other. If we go Dark Ages, if we go down the road of pitchfork-wielding xenophobes, then the whole world will go Dark Ages.
There is a poison loose today, and America — America at its best — is the only antidote…
America at its darkest and most “pitchfork-wielding” and “xenophobic” is called the Republican Party. America “at its best” is called Progressive and Liberal America, and in case you hadn't heard, we don’t run anything anymore...
All these years later and these same clowns are still being allowed to get away with running this same, played-out, filthy little scam.
It's almost as if there is some sort of Club. A Club which does not allow lowlifes like you and me within a mile of its velvet rope.

The words of the Bill Kristol's and Friedman's of the world don't mean what you or many think they mean. For them the correctness of their words is measured in how well paid they are for them. Whatever formulations they come up with which inevitably please a certain class of people is, in their own minds, right. Because after all someone is paying for it. Intrinsically it has worth. Nothing, nothing, can possibly make them doubt their own correctness.
