Today In Nobody Fucking Cares News...

Another "principled Republican" finally discovers that his Republican Party has been full of Republicans all along:

Yes, at long last and after many long nights of bitter tears and rendered garment, Mr. Stapley wants the whole world to know that he has very reluctantly decided to quit the Guild of Bigots, Liars, Imbeciles, Grifters and Madmen because, Jesus, Mary and Betty Davis, these goobers are such absolute fucking drama queens.

Because babies in cages and Muslim bans and all the overt racism and and all the lies and trying to take health care away from millions and another trillion dollars in debt to pay for tax cuts for the rich and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on wasn't enough.

Well, you all know the words by heart by now, so you can sing along at home is you like.

"I'm not a Republican anymore.  I'm an in-deeee-pen-dant!"

From Mr. Stapley's blog:
My Viral Tweet, The Republican Party, and The Difficult Choice Before Me

... I Don’t Want To Leave the GOP

I know, I know. Those that are already #ExGop are pulling their hair out over my reluctance to leave the Republican Party. And their disbelief is joined in symphony by the cackling howls of Trump-supporting Republicans who think I can’t get the hell out of their party fast enough. In fact, just about everyone across the board is wondering why I didn’t leave the party years ago.

But I had good reasons to stay. Many of those reasons are still compelling. But those reasons are starting to be overwhelmed. I’m already a reluctant centrist. Must I be a reluctant independent too?...
For the record, I'm a better writer than Mr. Stapley by several orders of magnitude and have written a skajillion words over the past 15 years and yet none of them have really "gone viral".  Hell, I can't even get most of my "allies" to throw a little traffic my way.

/shrugs/

I guess this is just another of the many penalties we Liberals must endure for committing the unforgivable offense of having been right about the Right all along :-)

No, Justin, we answered the "why are Republicans still Republicans" question years ago, and the answer was as unsatisfying as it was simple: they suck.
Also, you would still suck as an independent.

"Independent" just means he'll end up voting for Trump anyway, but only after six months of ankle-biting whoever gets the Democratic nomination.

Is there,a need for a republican rehab center. A place for them to go to detox?

I suggest taking the Alcoholics Anonymous book and read it. Every time you come across the word Alcohol, replace it with republican party.

One of the many problems leaving the GOP is, Can you still hate the same people with the same vile and vote to use government to punish them like you desire them to be punished.

Justin has a strong need to make his decision in public as though for him. His conscience is screaming from within and he continues to ignore it even after as the harm a drunk can do to others with his drunk driving. Somehow he is probably scared of being one of those people his party hates and he probably knows of the front yard cross burning (metaphoric) that his party are are planning for him.

But, I find it lame that he says what he will do as they cross his every line in his moral sand and still has to retweet the polling question if he should.

Justin may be in fear of being called or becoming what he hated and punished. I agree with Doug in Sugar Pine. Justin here finds Trumpism doesn't fit well with his values even when he suppresses those Morals and finds being one of the Jim Jones devoted followers doesn't have much of a future. Somehow, he thinks registering as an independent and continuing to be a Trumper shields him from any responsibility and he can continue imagining how good a person he is.

Moving to independent for Justin is the same as what is called in Alcoholics Anonymous book as a geographical change.

The Alcy to get out of his problem. Moves and takes the alcy to live in another location. Where no one knows his reputation. But the Alchy seeks out bars and liqueur stores anew.

How surprised Justin Stapley must be, that of his followers might actually take his air–headed tweets seriously. IIRC, Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show that he will eventually leave the country if the health care bill passes and its provisions are implemented, yet his infestation persists.

Strategist should try and encourage the start a new conservative party, for several reasons.

•Give never Trumpers somewhere to go.

•Give never Trumpers somewhere else to go instead of having them barge in the door of the Dems and try to turn them/us into Republican Lite.

•Encourage more GOP to leave by giving them a safe space to run to.

•Cause a Civil War within the conservative movement, and the conservative journalist and pundits (see the 2nd point). It will also force them to waste energy fighting each other.

•Destroy the long term electoral prospects by splitting the conservative vote.

•With both a extremist right and a "moderate" right conservative party, it will make it easier for the Dems to move from centre right to the centre or even [*gasp] centre left.

•Prevent the both siderism pundits from declaring themselves "independent", only to vote conservative while castigating Dems for not welcoming them with conservative policies. And then going back to being conservative once the coast is clear.

•It'll be fun watching them fight each other and yell traitor while flinging poo.

Dg, I wish I could throw some traffic your way. You certainly deserve it.

Mr. Stapley I imagine you're about as independent as the children held in cages at the border. Something tells me that in your newly found 'independent'ness, you'll criticize the dems for not adopting failed gop ideas, refuse to consider progressive or even relatively centrist democrat ideals and then vote for the next conservative asshat that rolls down the republican empty head assembly line once Trump is gone.
