As you've pointed out years ago, Sherman's method of grinding the South into defeat/destruction/submission is what is required to be done to the Republican party. And if I again hear Uncle Joe or Mayor Pete get glassy eyed and talk about working together with Repubs after this election...

Yesterday's AP News had an article about Jay Sekulow and his unusual "charity" financing. Basically him, his wife, two sons, Jay's brother and some nephews have taken in $65M in the ten years between 2008 & 2017. Biggest source of tax deductible contributions? Pat Robertson's The 700 Club (about 20% of total), though Sekulow funnels back $400K a year as a gift to Marion "Pat" Robertson. Robertson started supporting Sekulow after he went bankrupt in the late 80s, but then formed a Jews for Jesus political action committee. The Sekulow charity also has a $1.8M house in DC that they loan out to conservatives. Oh, and they used to provide a private jet to Antonin Scalia for his use. So has Sekulow closed down his charity since 2017 now that's he's working for Trump? Fuck no, now his charity has quadrupled up to $25M per year. Mostly from large evangelical organizations.

I'm afraid that many of the evangelical conservative organizations are hopelessly corrupt and need the Sherman treatment as well.

...Lincoln should have let Sherman finish the f#$!in' job.

Some time-traveler should provide Sherman with a pony nuke. It'd make a nice counterbalance to those AWB fuckers who gave Lee a case of AK-47s.

(Disclaimer: this idea is not original to me. I've seen it from Paul Riddell, back before he finally kicked the writing habit to manage the TX Triffid Ranch exotic plant store in Dallas, and Tim Kreider in a mostly good The Pain -- When Will It End? strip.)

A nuke would be overkill and counterproductive. If anything, a few of these and teach the best Union shots how to operate them. Grand tactical version of a mugging: go for the head. Anyone in an officer's uniform gets plugged. If they're sneaky f$#!ers to boot, send 'em around the flanks to cap the brass from behind.

To be honest though, Sherman was getting it done as it was; Lincoln pulled him up short, in an attempt to try and reason with the Confederacy. We know how that turned out. ~:[

Can we elect a Democratic president (and congress) who will go to the lengths to put GOP in the corner while they ignore norms?

My ears are sore from hearing how Democrats with power need to compromise with GOP that never does. Take some drastic measure,

passing a quick impeaching process for unqualified and biased GOP judges stuffed in. Including the Kavanaugh.
Or if swifter, go ahead and add a few justices to the SCOTUS. For the Kavy, Thomas and Alito types to lose their conservative dentures over.
Like GOP and their "congressional review" to hyper speed ram the overturning of the black president. many of those bills were voted by some of those republicans.
Bring in a RICO team to investigate every deportment of government slimmed by the corruption.
complete audits.

Just know this, the GOP in their cover up for Trump and their willing enabling of the University Fraud president. Are NOT saying these are the rules and presidence for future presidents.
It is for republican presidents only.

Don't have a Twitter account so I can't be thrown into Twitter jail, but our cat, former IKotW Littlebeast, is in cat jail because he keeps fighting with the neighbor's cat. We bought him a harness and leash to take him outdoors with, but he isn't that interested in it, and besides, there is SNOW out there, and why we don't make it stop he just can't figure out.
Squeaker, on the other hand, is a perfect gentleman, unless you happen to be a bird or rodent, and is patiently waiting for Littlebeast to invite him in to play or whatever.

I keep telling the panicking or despondent that impeachment was always going to be like this, and that is why Pelosi was reluctant to do it.
But now that we've gone there, we need to use the results to save the republic.
Fergus, acquitted, will then get his revenge, and we, aware of that, have to beat him with it just like we have to beat senate Republicans with their votes to acquit.

You know he won't be able to stop himself, and that it will be even stupider and more evil than what he got away with last time, so we'll have our work cut out for us.

Thank you again for the podcast, this week is all about getting a new doctor to re-up my prescriptions, and I really like my old doctor, but he works at the county hospital in the county I don't live in anymore, so I'm just hoping to get even half as lucky here as I did at Highland Hospital in 2009...

Not to forget;
Moscow Mitch and other GOPers threw a fit over Obama;s suggestion to notify the American people of Russian interference in our last presidential election.

This means every republican Senator knew and did not let their constituents know so they could be aware to make the best decision with their votes.
