I am going to repeat this one more time: the goal of the press should be the truth, not balance. Having people on who don’t traffic in facts and who consistently lie doesn’t get to the truth.— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) August 29, 2019
If Matthew Dowd 2019 believed that the Past was an actual thing that had happened, I bet he would really, really loathe Matthew Dowd 2016:
.
By the way, did I mention that Matthew Dowd is ABC News' chief political analyst?
Yeah. He is. Just as he was back in 2016 when he and Ron Fournier were the undisputed kings of shitty "Both Sides Are Equally Bad" punditry. Yes, back when it actually mattered, they were fucking everywhere -- the Martin and Lewis of "Both Sides Do It! End The K'rupt Duopoly! Disrupt!" hackery -- bleating out their toxic Beltway bullshit in every venue that would have them.
But what what makes this prefect is not merely that Matthew Dowd circa 2004 and 2008 and 2016 and 2019 all apparently exist simultaneously in an eternal political Now where Past and Future have no meaning ... except on payday.
No, what makes this perfect is that back when it actually mattered, Matthew Dowd blocked me on Twitter and called my readers stupid for pointing out to him that Both Siderism was a noxious lie that was leading us to disaster.
What makes this perfect are the hundreds and hundreds of very earnest "You're such a brave truth-teller Matthew Dowd!" "You tell 'em, Matthew Dowd" "You're a genius Matthew Dowd" "No one has more integrity than you Matthew Dowd!" and "Why can't every network hire you Matthew Dowd?!?!" replies.
That's what makes it Art.
Behold, a Tip Jar!
