Matthew Dowd from Yesterday:
Hillary Clinton 2016: “You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. “ With events over the last few years, and conduct and behavior we have seen, can someone explain to me how Hillary was wrong.— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) June 25, 2019

both status quo parties are broken.Saying 1 is worse thanother isn't helpful— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) August 21, 2016
why don't you accept people for where they are in the present?— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) August 21, 2016
Wonder what @greenbergerj thinks about @ABC's chief political analyst making a blunder this public & embarrassing? https://t.co/lRSVjVLg2I— driftglass (@Mr_Electrico) January 3, 2017
"So tired of 2status quo parties telling everyone they have to choose between these 2, let folks innovate & use other choices" @ThisWeekABC— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) August 21, 2016
let the clinton stuff go. Trump is president elect. And let's concentrate on that, and future leaders. Not the past.— Matthew Dowd (@matthewjdowd) December 23, 2016

You see, back in the Before Time, the Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom deemed it the blackest heresy to speak the simple truth that our two parties and the two candidates for president were in no way equivalent. The Both Sides Do It lie paid well, and the American public was carpet-bombed with it every fucking day by respectable stooges in suits like Mr, Dowd
Because Mr. Dowd hasn't much in the way of courage, which has been an asset to his professional advancement: whichever way the breeze of Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom is blowing, that's the direction you will find him flitting along.
Of course the Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom turned out to be horribly, horribly wrong, because it's almost always wrong. But no one lost their job over it because that's not how the Beltway media works: Loyalty to the Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom -- no matter how ludicrous or toxic -- is rewarded and deviation from it -- no matter how justified -- is punished.
Because when you control the cameras, who is there to say any different?
And that was the way of things until Donald Trump and his dog-loyal Republican Party started kicking Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom in the balls so hard and so fast and so relentlessly that Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom began shitting blood and had to go and have a lie-down.
When Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom awoke to the sound of the wingnut mob at their front door with pitchforks and torches and howling for blood, they finally conceded to the need to shift the direction of the prevailing wind. Slightly.
Henceforth it would still be absolutely verboten to even hint that the Left had been right about the Right all along. However, the Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom let it be known that it was now OK -- conditionally and provisionally -- to suggest that, just maybe, Hillary Clinton wasn't entirely wrong about the makeup of the GOP.
There really is a Club, boys and girls.Because Mr. Dowd hasn't much in the way of courage, which has been an asset to his professional advancement: whichever way the breeze of Beltway Media Conventional Wisdom is blowing, that's the direction you will find him flitting along.

And you and I are absolutely not welcome there.
Behold, a Tip Jar!

Nice work. What a hack Dowd is.
And the Bloggers took the passages of Potomac before the Villagers: and it was so, that when those Villagers which were escaped said, Let me go over; that they of Blogtopia* said unto him, "Art thou a Villager?" If he said, 'Nay';
Then said they unto him, "Say now 'The Left was right about the Right all along': and he said "Both sides do it": for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and banned him at the passages of Potomac: and there fell at that time of the Villagers forty and two thousand.
