I agree about the aftermath of betrayal, and would like to add an extra layer of caution there, as their behavior isn't likely to improve afterward. I've heard it said that people can forgive you much easier for what you have done to them than for what they have done to you.

I've been trying to point out the downward progression of Republican presidents for years. During the downward spiral of the Bush administration I ran into a friend I hadn't seen in years, and he reminded me of the things we said about the Reagan administration, and then said "We never thought it could get worse than that, did we?"

No, we didn't, not at the time. Now we know that it just doesn't matter how bad any given Republican administration is, the next one will find a way to be worse.

So it's kind of the opposite of hatred that drives our fierce opposition to the Republican party, and yes, the next monster they will produce even before it rolls off of the production line. It's actually compassion for the regular people, even Republicans, who we already know will suffer under their policies.

Well, that and an attempt at something resembling wisdom.

Thank you again for the podcast, and I hope your Thanksgiving was as lovely as ours was. We spent ours at a friend's home, and I had never met her family. They broke the wine out for a "tasting" about an hour before dinner was served and her sister went off on a (tame by my standards) rant while she was carving the turkey about how America was going to hell in a handbasket, and probably the native Americans who the thanksgiving story is based on were killed or at least displaced later by the very people they had tried to help, but god damn it, this is about the family having a holiday together and not about what happened 500 years ago that there's nothing we can do about now anyway. Then she saw me and realized that 1) I wasn't drinking, and 2) I had heard everything she had been saying, and she looked at me and said "Sorry."
And I looked back at her and said "For what?"
And we all had a wonderful time.

Your Sasse story call out ended up as one of those standard media teases to keep me listening.

As Sassse is one of my two favorite Senators that most deserve being in the minority party.
But Sasse is best explained in his last 2 media appearances.

1) where he is told be host that Hannity does not consider Sasse a true republican and sasse boldly retorts, "I will debate Hannity on any neutral ground over my republicanism.

Blue Wave hit locally here somewhat. But My fellow Americans nationwide made it palatable of the relection of my gop Trump house coffee boy member. Defying his belief in Term Limits. Returning to the House only now, In the Minority Party.
My count down clock is ticking. How loong will it take him to rise up into complete insane obstruction. After time and again his preaching and calling for Democrats to , you know. Be Bi partisan and moderate to the point where they are complete republicans.

Tick- Tick- tick..............

2) On Late Night with Colbert promoting his book on "why we hate". having to do with Social Media . Nothing to address why the KKK meets up with the NAZIS on social media and find their common goals of bigotry and racism in the GOP.
Green Acres Ben tells us in his world of small living , knowing your neighbors is only attainable in GOP farm lands. Ben does not do Town Halls. Just before his ACA repeal vote. He came home to hope on a plane to Colorado for a Koch Brothers health care seminar. Never met with anyone in the state. Says in local paper he will not do town halls.

Geuss he doesn't like meeting those neighbors after all.

But sumed up in Colbert Interview where Steven asks Sasse about Whitaker,
Colbert; You trust the president will do the right thing?

Sasse; (after a quiet ppause), Oh< I get it! I get the joke!

Thing is, Colbert's tone when he asked was not really in the comedic joking tone. So Sasse gets the joke and apparently will carry the funny bucket of water for the president because. He is the 5th Senator from Kentucky.

!)McConnell 2) Runnining from things man 3rd) Deb Fischer 4th) Ben Sasse.
