The Real Complaining Party at the Bar in This Courtroom Is Civilization

Make no mistake, the midterm elections are vitally important.  Critically important.

Period.  Full stop.

However over the longer term, one election will not be sufficient, because we are not faced with a dispute over policies or priorities.  Instead we are faced with the genuinely existential problem of political party which has become entirely corrupt, depraved and sadistic.

By choice and from top to bottom.

And the reason that this gang of Republican criminals and monsters feel so free to commit their atrocities so openly and proudly -- the reason that they boast about it -- is because so much time, money and effort was expended last time to make sure that the last gang of Republican criminals and monsters and their media enablers --

-- were never brought to book for a god damn thing.

That's why we at the Professional Left say "Burn Their Lifeboats".  Why we are extremely suspicious of Republican Never Trumpers who would have us believe that somehow, after a lifetime of professional service in he leadership of the Republican party, only noticed five minutes ago that their Republican party was full of Republicans.

Because if any of the architects of our present disaster or any of their media enablers are allowed to escape judgement this time and set up shop once again, before you can say "The Extremes on Both Sides!" they will have scurried through the Bush Off-Machine and be right back in business, rebuilding their same old monster factory with the backing of the same old plutocrats, promoted by the same old media corporations and staffed by the same old wingnut hobgoblins.

Behold, a Tip Jar!

It is down right freakish how I keep thinking of that movie these days...
Because that is really what we are down to. It is the cold calculation in the mind of every Republican with more than two brain cells to rub together.
Is this braying mentally deficient nightmare going to prevail? How can I position myself to wind up on the winners side?
Not morality's side, not decency's side..but the WINNING SIDE.
Will I survive..or will I end up sitting in the dock at the next Trial at Nuremberg??
The only joy I have left:
Knowing that ..that thought haunts them. That pressure. Day and night.

Impeachment gets put off the table, which was never there to begin with. And prosecutions might upset book sales. But we now have a woman as the head of the CIA!

It has always been my opinion, letting Nixon resign was enough punishment.

No, I do not omit the lie over being attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin lie to start a war.

That impeachment and removal was the proper way. At least hold him accountable under law after his resignation.

Reagan was excused from fully defying the will of congress. Running his own secret arms dealing for money to fund his undeclared South American war.

Although his heart told him he did not, his head said he did

Would that line work for Osama bin Laden after 9/11 ???

Because you like a person is no reason to excuse their crimes when others are held to those laws.

problem with Bill Clinton, having out of wedlock consensual sex between two adults consenting and both knowing one was married.
Then forced under oath to answer what was not a crime. Lied.
Just being Commander in Chief prescribed censure under impeachment. But not removal.

GW Bush and Cheney? Bush should have been impeached for lying use into war. Real costs (to this day) many people died for that lie.
As for the Cheney and his Igorian Scooter Libby convicted for outing a undercover agent. Well, he was convicted. Bush folded under pressure from the vials of his circle of power and excused his prison time but left his conviction. Cheney and Bush should have been impeached. Even if it was after they left office.

It made it legitimate to lie the country into war for ideology, profiteering and self glory.

I see nothing Obama could be even censured for unless you are of a hateful mind enough to use, "keeping your own doctor" quote under the ACA as impeachable. Which I do not. Even if you call me partisan for this view.

As for TRump. The list is too long to go through. Too many examples for multiple censures. As for impeachment removal (and his VP) Conspiring with Russia in election rigging conspiracy to bribe silence of wrong doings.

America paves the way for worse behavior form our presidents by lack of justice. Resigning ones office (job) is not punishment. It is the Church moving pedophile priests to another place. Where he may start all over again.

As important a post as I've seen, and that's saying something since I'm a regular here...

Remember, you get one chance at impeachment. And you need two thirds of the Senate to remove.

But stay indignant. Because your feelings trump the facts

If all it took was waving a magic wand, I'd sell all I had to be first to wave it. But guys there are billions of dollars waiting to rebuild the next Republican party version. If Fox could somehow be hounded out of existence there would be five replacements on the way (in fact my deep red state cable channel selection includes three wannabe Fox Network replacements).

The enemy here is the scheming idle rich, who have had a taste of that sweet sweet tax break payoff funded by government-backed debt, and they'll never give up trying to get more. Finally for good and forever defeating them is about as realistic as eating one last meal and never needing to eat again. We need vigilance and organization, because Biff's greed, like rust, never sleeps.

Again you quote one of my favourite speeches from any movie.
