The Line For Pissing On Nixon's Grave

Just got a lot longer.

Vietnam vets and war widows, widowers and orphans automatically get 'cuts' to the front.

From The New York Times:
Nixon’s Vietnam Treachery

Richard M. Nixon always denied it: to David Frost, to historians and to Lyndon B. Johnson, who had the strongest suspicions and the most cause for outrage at his successor’s rumored treachery. To them all, Nixon insisted that he had not sabotaged Johnson’s 1968 peace initiative to bring the war in Vietnam to an early conclusion. “My God. I would never do anything to encourage” South Vietnam “not to come to the table,” Nixon told Johnson, in a conversation captured on the White House taping system.

Now we know Nixon lied. A newfound cache of notes left by H. R. Haldeman, his closest aide, shows that Nixon directed his campaign’s efforts to scuttle the peace talks, which he feared could give his opponent, Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey, an edge in the 1968 election. On Oct. 22, 1968, he ordered Haldeman to “monkey wrench” the initiative...
Says something that history may judge Nixon to be only the second or third worst Republican war criminal and traitor in the last 50 years.

And the only one to be driven from office.

And now the Party of Lincoln has elected a know-nothing racist lunatic and Russian sock-puppet whose disqualifying emotional and psychological malignancies dwarf the collective personality disorders of all four of his Republican predecessors.

But the font which President Barack Obama used for his Farewell Address announcement was apparently unacceptably arrogant, so Both Sides!

Saw this announcement earlier. If this gets just a yawn from the GOP, it will really prove they are the most destructive, traitorous force in America. I already knew that but this is just one more bit of evidence if any was needed.

The GOP will ignore this, but sadly so will Democrats. Most US citizens won't give a crap even if they happen to hear about it. Certainly Fox CNN & el Lushbo won't discuss it. Case closed. Move along kiddies. Nothing to see here...

Nixon was the Republicans' collective psychotic break. No Democrat would ever again legitimately hold office, or even be counted as a real American. It gets worse with each iteration. Reagan was a bigger crook than Nixon, and introduced the bumbling dope, magical thinking, polymimetic Jesus phlebotinum into the Republican dogma. Who can we get that is more of a bumpkin that Reagan? George W Bush. Next iteration found people who were bigger fools and crackpots and con men than Bush: Palin, O'Connell, Santorum, Huckabee, Carson. They lost. The right doubled down. Again. And they hit double zero on the wheel.
We can't let ourselves believe all is lost. They barely won. And the map for 18 to 25 voters is 500 EV Blue. Ask Frank Luntz if you doubt me. But it's going to be a bad time. They will hurt people, because that's what sadists do. They will wreck the place. They will break things. There will be harm done that might not be fixed ever. But we can, we will, we must outlast them.

You have to go back to Eisenhower to find an "honest" Republican President:

Nixon: Treason twice - scuttling Viet Nam peace talks, Watergate
Ford: Pardoning Nixon for "good of the country."
Reagan: Iran Contra
Bush the Elder: Pardoned everyone.
Bush the Idiot (Shrub): Plame-Gate & pardons (btw, likely killing at least one CIA operative as a result); mishandling of 9/11 & Iraq, et al. Perhaps sheer incompetence if not treason, but who knows.

Now the Republicans vote in secret - on New Year's day! - to eliminate the independent Congressional ethics office. Jesus, we're in for a rough ride.

Nailed it.

Eisenhower may hover in fond memory as an "honest" Republican President. but:
1. He ordered the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Jacobo Arbenz in Guatemala (on behalf of United Fruit);
2. He ordered the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Mosaddegh in Iran (on behalf of British Petroleum);
3. He ordered the killing of the democratically elected prime minister of the Congo , Patrice Lumumba (on behalf of American commercial interests in the Congo).

Apparently the democracy thing really bothers Republicans.
But the suitably grateful Big Money Boyz generously stocked his Gettysburg farm.

I harbor no illusions about Ike. Although he had that warning about the MIC's power, it was at the end of his two terms. Two terms where he certainly did the bidding of large (particularly petro and Other-Countries-Resources) companies and promoted overall USA hegemony, even if the excuse was saving the world from the Commies. Your point is made.

Guess I'm down to Lincoln and (sorta) Teddy Roosevelt as "decent" Republican Presidents. Both of whom would be driven out of today's Republican party on a rail.

Just a note.

I grew up during a time, the 50's and 60's, when it was all anti-Communism and treason all the time.
We were taught to fear Communist moles in government, Fifth Columnist traitors, Russian nuclear attacks, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.
But when you look back at it now (my Eisenhower note, supra), the murder of JFK (for seeking peace with the Communists), the murder of RFK (killed in California as he was winning the primary that would carry him into the White House to pursue his brother's murderers), the propping up of dictators, the destruction of democratic and labor movements, it is the Republican Party that has been the real agent of treason in all seasons.

The "deep state" will use Democrats when they can get them ("both sides!"), but it is the GOP that is the trusty dependable sidearm of the .01%. The "treason" is not on behalf of Russia or China, but that .01% that is now stealthily
pushing its agenda through globalization, transnational corporations more powerful than most states, and the TRILLIONS hidden in offshore accounts. What did you think TPP, TISA, TSA, TPSEP, NAFTA and all the rest of it was about anyway?

I forgot about Ike sending troops into Lebanon to quell a Muslim uprising in 1958. A friend of mine's father came to the US during that time. Since 9/11 my friend occasionally gets the side eye (being Middle Eastern with a beard) though he was born here and his family is (I think Maronite) Christian.

Yep, the Republican's are corrupt, greedy, fake-Christians and occasionally traitors. And they've got all three branches for at least the next two years (if not the next two decades). Happy New Year.

Nixon with Vietnam, Reagan with Iran, Trump with Russia; I'm sensing a theme.

And no one has raised the question of,

"What does Putin think about it"?

As long as long as the Man from Vlad says something pleasant about the greatest Apprentice host EVER! He is sure to have great insight on what would be best for us.
Something for Trump to consider in making America apply for an American Apprenticeship citizenship.

Every American must submit his application for review by Trump executive management. Uday and Qusay Trump boys will approve your Citizen apprenticeship. Or not.

"You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore ..." -- Richard Nixon, 1962

Dick, it's 2017 and you've been dead for nearly 18 years. We're still kicking you. Give our regards to Kissinger when he joins you in the Seventh Level.

That Nixon/Kissinger sabotaged the peace talks was no secret. Proof to shut the yaps of revisionist RW's is welcome though. The important thing to me is this ends Kissingers hopes of a good verdict from history. He will be scorned and reviled for abetting the slaughter of tens of thousands. A monster more heinous than his boss.

I remember watching a news story on the BBC teletext information service Ceefax about Nixon at some point before he died.

At least Nixon resigned as President of the United States of America to avoid removal from office by the Senate.
