Every guy of a certain age remembers Mannix or remembers their Dad watching Mannix.
Fewer remember that Mike Connors, Obi Wan Kenobi and the Sundance Kid once starred in a movie about two American POWs in Germany who were never told by their jailer that the war was long over.

Promise to let us know when we are free from being Trump's captive audience.
If he is replaced in 4 years. You know damn well he ain't leaving the media.....
What I remember about Mannix is--
1. CBS didn't want to cast a black woman as Mannix' secretary, and allowed it only after Connors and Bruce Geller (producer) insisted.
2. The opening credit graphics featured the colors of the Armenian flag as a nod to Connors' ancestry.
3. They were filming an episode at the same ski resort I went to one spring break. He liked to surround himself with adoring fans of the attractive female persuasion. Apparently, guys weren't the only ones who watched the show.
They had a segment on the local news from Fresno, that's where he came from originally.
And Gail Fisher as Peggy. Yes. Interesting that, although there was absolutely nothing overt (due to the scared network execs) there was definitely sexual tension between Mannix and Peggy. I liked that Mannix's Armenian ancestry was a focus of several storylines (his background, Armenian kid from the Fresno area, mirrored Mike Connors').
I used to watch his previous show, Tightrope, which was in the 60s era of the gimmick gun (Dale Robertson's seven shot revolver, Steve McQueen's sawed off Winchester rifle, etc., etc., etc). Connors' gun in Tightrope was nothing special, but he carried it in a holster at the small of the back, which the villains reliably missed during frisks. I also saw a western with Mike's "Touch Connors" billing one Saturday afternoon.
