Repost: The Nightmare Scenario

I originally posted this back in August because, in addition to the overt racism, misogyny, xenophobia and other assorted crackpottery that passes for mental activity among the meatheads on the Right, this is what Crazy Uncle Liberty was cheering for.

And now...
America's stupidest and most hateful citizens have elected a lunatic who will strip away the their health insurance and let the plunderers poison our air and water, but hey, at least he'll give them a big, shiny arms race to keep them mesmerized while he and his cronies rob us all blind.

Meanwhile, down at the soon-to-be-shuttered Department of Labor...
Trump vineyard seeks Labor Department approval to hire foreign workers

Lately I have been ashamed to be an old white person, as my demographic was the backbone of Trump's "victory." Talk about a demographic that seems to have trouble remembering!

I was a little kid during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but I certainly remember the concrete bomb shelter (later, embarrassingly, renamed to a tornado shelter & used as a root cellar) that my Dad built. Assassinations, from JFK on down. Vietnam (my 70 year old brother is a vet), the protests/riots. Yes, those lame nuclear-attack drills, the yellow & black fallout shelter signs. Took my college physics classes in a building whose floors didn't quite meet/level because half the building had been blown up as an antiwar protest.

And yet white people who are old enough to remember - and should know better - the nuclear threat and political upheaval of the 60s are supporting this clown. God help us, we may be headed for serious, serious trouble.

And let's not forget that this lunatic also inherits the surveillance state and remote-control assassination apparatus which you spent the last eight years telling us was nothing to worry about, because Obama is so wise and good. While you and your fanboys indulged in the slimiest and most over-the-top attacks on anyone who expressed any misgivings about this kind of unaccountable power.

Hell, the whole point of the critique was that even if you're convinced the current President will use that power with wisdom and restraint, you cannot guarantee that the next holder of the office will do the same. And wisdom and restraint are two words not commonly associated with Donald Trump.

So good job, Drifty.

Although it has been several years since I last visited these precincts, so maybe you changed your mind. If so, I apologize. If not, you owe us an apology. Starting with Snowden.

Note from making America great again.
In the days before the founding when men were men and England ruled by people in long haired white wigs and robes.

The good old days when you can own a person. Not like today's slavery where cowboys trade their owned running back to the New England Patriots because their ownership contract says they can.

Sure that EPA, labor Dept. and such are in the way of certain people profiting greatly at the expense of others. "Free markets" ya'll. Government can make sure there are no obstacles for private big profiteering off the resources and labor of the land.

Got to tell you from the Ayn Rand side of it all,
That complete monstrosity obstructionist hate prosperity notion. Called the U.S. Constitution, well. A lot of that needs to go. Just too anti business crap in there.
Freedom of speech is over rated. Amending it to read that Corporations are people and people are not people is too long and confusing for you little people that think you should have a louder voice than from atop a soapbox in the middle of nowhere.
This entire constitution thing is in the way of the job creators. Who are above the laws of the constitution.
They promise if all these obstructive constitution things are out of their way. How great America would be for them (coporate people that is).
These courts are already corrupted by the elite powerful and connected so what is all of this "Right to a fair trial" baloney? Not needed. Use powerful know best and will treat you so very fairly, trust us. Like you do The Donald.

It has been too long since I got back into my Gord. Someday I may return to it.
In the meantime, I am out of it.

Appreciating sentiments expressed, and being psychically pushed even further back under that "duck & cover" 5th grade classroom desk, than drifty's gut wrenching desecration of the pic from one of my fav' flicks of all time succeeded in doing, you ain't got nothing to be ashamed of My Brother. -Da Doctah
