Citizen Zucker

Jeff Zucker celebrates the end of another day successfully destroying
what little was left of CNN's journalistic credibility (Not Safe For Work)

Jeff Zucker loves ratings.  And there is nothing wrong with that, I suppose.

It's just that Jeff Zucker so obviously doesn't give a shit about anything but ratings.

Here is CNN's newest employee, Corey Lewendowski, doing exactly what Jeff Zucker hired him to do: lie his goon ass off on Jeff Zucker's dime.  From Media Matters:
CNN's Corey Lewandowski Revives Trump's Birther Claims That Obama Got In Harvard As Non-Citizen

Lewandowski: "Did He Get In As A U.S. Citizen, Or Was He Brought Into Harvard As A Citizen Who Wasn't From This Country?"

And here is Jeff Zucker praising his newest hire to the rafters for doing exactly what Jeff Zucker hired him to do.  From Politico:
Jeff Zucker praises Corey Lewandowski, slams Vice and BuzzFeed

Corey Lewandowski is a great CNN contributor, and Vice and BuzzFeed are not legitimate news organizations, CNN President Jeff Zucker says in Variety's latest cover story.

Zucker hired the former Donald Trump campaign manager just a week after he was fired, adding him to CNN's stable of paid commentators who support the Republican presidential nominee.

“The reason we hired Corey is that now that we are in the general election, I think it’s really important to have voices on CNN who are supportive of the Republican nominee,” Zucker said in the interview. “It’s hard to find a lot of those. Our competitors tried to hire him too.”

“I actually think he’s done a really nice job,” Zucker continued...
It's a puppet show, and watching it can teach you a lot about how utterly bent the media has become.

But never, ever mistake the slop being served up on cable teevee for "news",

Amen.

I got rid of cable some time ago and found better news coverage on the Internets.
With the Internet, you also get a disintermediation of the "network" filter.
Although this hands the mike to a lot of loons, it also gives a voice to people who have an expertise in an area (e.g. Empty Wheel) or simply know what they're talking about (looking at you drifty).

Zucker clarifies his goals in hiring super spooge bucket Lewendowski. Had already figured it out but nice to have the clarification. Oh pity poor poor Trump who's been so misunderstood and misrepresneted by the horrid awful lying LIEbrul media. Zucker & CNN to the rescue!!

I chucked out my tv a loooong time ago and never looked back. Cable "infotainment" (which is a misnomer) is worthless drek served out to dumb down the populace ever further. No thanks.

Good afternoon, Mr. Glass.

During the Republican National Convention, my dad got into watching C-SPAN for the first time. Did you know that the audience can call into that channel and ask questions of the guests in real time?

All I kept thinking was, "C-SPAN + David Brooks + Driftglass on the Democratic Phone Line = this is why the other news networks don't allow real time audience interaction."

Be seeing you.
