I really, really, REALLY hope that Syfy doesn't fuck this up. Childhood's End is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi novels, and I really want to like this. Based on what I've read on Blastr (Syfy's media blog), though, I'm not very optimistic. (They've already changed one of the main characters: Rikki Stormgren, UN Secretary General, has become Ricky Stormgren, Midwestern farmer. I hate to think of what else they may have decided to "improve.")

I read that book in 1967. I look forward to seeing on film, finally.
