The 10th blogiversary fundraiser continues with the Hope and Change year of 2008.
In 2008, there existed a person names "John Stossel" who I described at the time as being "just as full of shit as a Port-O-Let after a marathon laxative-based-chili-eating-contest."
2008 also saw the launch of the surprisingly successful presidential campaign of a huckster/preacher/governor combo platter named Mike Huckabee (Huckster Hears a Who) who was positioning himself to be a GOP agenda-setter, media star and power-broker.
In 2008 there was also launched -- with much fanfare -- an enterprise called the Group News Blog which proclaimed itself the "heir to the legacy of Steve Gilliard". It boasted a large and impressive stable of writers, a sleek look and a formidable fundraising apparatus.
Two of these things still exist and are going strong.
One of them is a ghost town, as is "The Fight Liberals" -- another big "The Mantle of Steve Gilliard" launch with many writers and good intentions that splintered off from the GNB and then crawled under a porch and died.
I'm sure there is a lesson in there somewhere.
