Oklahoma Changes Name To OklaHETEROAndStopLookingAtMeThatWay!

Governor Mary Fallin released a statement following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to reject the appeal of a lower court ruling striking down an Oklahoma constitutional provision defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman:
"The people of Oklahoma have the right to determine how marriage is defined.  In 2004, Oklahomans exercised that right, voting by a margin of 3-1 to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

"The will of the people has now been overridden by unelected federal justices, accountable to no one.  That is both undemocratic and a violation of states' rights.  Rather than allowing states to make their own policies that reflect the values and views of their residents, federal judges have inserted themselves into a state issue to pursue their own agendas.

"Today's decision has been cast by the media as a victory for gay rights.  What has been ignored, however, is the right of Oklahomans and Americans in every state, to write their own laws and govern themselves as they see fit.  Those rights have once again been trampled by an arrogant, out-of-control federal government that wants to substitute Oklahoma values with Washington, D.C. values."
In other news, I hear over in Kansas City they went an' built a skyscraper seven stories high...

About as high as a buildin' orta grow.

Good morning, Mr. Glass.

"What has been ignored, however, is the right of Oklahomans and Americans in every state, to write their own laws and govern themselves as they see fit."

It's probably ignored because only nations have that sort of freedom, not states. Now if you'd like to secede...

Enjoy your day.

The irony here, of course, is that the ruling comes from one of the most conservative U.S. Supreme Courts ever.

exactly, Redhand! Mark "nails on a blackboard" Levin has referred to them as an "activist court" without a hint of irony in his screechy voice.

and not for nothin' (sorry, I'm from New Jersey!) but this--- "The will of the people has now been overridden by unelected federal justices, accountable to no one. That is both undemocratic and a violation of states' rights."---

sounds a lot like a confederate's reaction to the Emancipation Proclamation....

Or was it the U.S. Supreme Courts lack of ruling---Ruling?
Wonder if the wedlock industry had petitioned the SCOTUS that they are closely held corporations and their religious bias allows them to discriminate would provide the conservative justices enough leaves of cover to impose more conservatism in spite of law?

And this from a source,
"Idaho Gov. Butch Otter, however, filed an emergency request for an immediate stay, and about 10 minutes before marriages could begin, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy temporarily blocked them. Kennedy's order asks Idaho plaintiffs to respond by the end of the day Thursday. Kennedy's order also applies to Nevada, which had not requested the stay."
Now,
Compare that when the Supremos are asked
for a stay and and to hear arguments over why a person should not be put to death by the Government?

When I first read that the supremes had declined to hear the appeal, I said "Hear that faint popping sound off in the distance? That's Mary Fallin's head exploding."

Butch Otter should have been my radio name in the 1980s.

Kudos to the Governor for some good Overton Window work!! Pretty soon the conventional wisdom will be that the U.S. Supreme Court is leftist. Meanwhile the left can't budge the widespread view that Obama's ideology positions him somewhere between Fidel Castro and Pol Pot.
