Delusions and "...Very real bullets..." are such a bad combination. I love that turn of phrase.
The issue is that Christianity and ruralness are just as much a problem as whiteness. It's those twin things, the markers of the vast swaths of real America, that cause conservatism and create the problem
Simply claiming that these aren't issues, and that this isn't Christianity, is just as utterly idiotic as Andrew Sullivan screaming about how racism isn't conservatism.
Until you are willing to admit that Christianity, ruralness, distance from a city, and whiteness are all problems, and willing to attack them all... you're just as much of a problem as any centrist or moderate conservative ignoring their problems.
It's not enough to complain about it in your church, you need to renounce your religion because it's the core problem that leads to conservatism. You need to stop defending the good ones in flyover, because flyover is a root cause of conservatism.
Till you are willing to do that, you're just as full of shit as Sullivan and trying to pretend that things you like aren't part of the problem.
You can't destroy conservatism without slaughtering religion and small town values first. And if you aren't willing to do that, you are enabling conservatism.
Michael Powell (son of Colin Powell) was appointed to the FCC by Bill Clinton. Powell, like Clinton. had a hard on for deregulation, non competition clauses, and media consolidation. Powell set in motion the destruction of net neutrality. I wont mention who is a republican or who is a democrat because in this scenario it makes absolutely no difference. Insiders were doing favors for other insiders and the political affiliation of the principals is irrelevant.
