Gun Nuts Gather To Terrorize Moms

No one in America any longer has any right to act surprised when they read about another mob of penis-impaired thugs strapping on an arsenal in order to terrorize people who disagree with them:
'Open carry' gunslingers confront gun control moms

If a bunch of men with guns showed up outside a restaurant, it might make anyone inside a wee bit nervous. If you happened to be one of four members of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense who had gathered for lunch at that restaurant and you looked out the window and saw a group of 40 rifle-toting people staring back at you, you could be forgiven for freaking out.

That is what happened at the Blue Mesa Grill in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday. The folks with the guns were a contingent representing Open Carry Texas. They were completely within their rights to be displaying their "long guns" because in the Lone Star State carrying a rifle or shotgun in public is legal. Open Carry Texas wants more, though. They want the freedom to carry any kind of gun in the open anywhere they want.

Open Carry Texas has contingents in other states pushing the same agenda, and there have been several encounters between them and their nemesis, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense – a national gun control organization formed after the massacre of schoolchildren at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., in 2012. Shannon Watts, founder of the organization, told USA Today that a similar group of citizens bearing arms came to a gun control rally in Indianapolis in April.

"We were surrounded by armed men, including some openly carrying loaded semiautomatic rifles," Watts said. "Many of our moms had children with them. Unfortunately this is not a unique situation — it's happened in many states, including Indiana, Ohio, Oregon, Michigan and now Texas. If open carry is allowed, our rallies are often attended by armed protesters."
...
What is much less well-know is that the Most Famous Reporter in the World is on the record as lavishly praising exactly this tactic:
[Glenn Greenwald] lavishly praised not just Wikileaks and Bradley Manning (who he called “probably the most heroic figure we’ve seen in at least a decade.” but also tea partyers who strike fear into the hearts of politicians by “acting very threateningly,” and “taking guns and machine guns” to their protests.
Weird how, in all the dozens and dozens and dozens of interviews the ubiquitous Mr. Greenwald has granted, not a single reporter has ever asked him a single question about his eccentric theories of radical political change.

Well, well, well.

The hysterical ninnies at dailykos.com, in their thousands of comments genuflecting before Greenwald as The Only Man Brave Enough to Speak Out Against the Worstest Thing Ever, never once saw fit to mention this little fact.

Perhaps they were ignorant of some important aspect of the story?

Say what you will about the Texas Open Carry law, but at least it eliminates the need for Stop and Frisk policies.

I live in Arlington. I was stunned when I realized where this was. First off I doubt any of those nuts were from Arlington. Not that we don't have plenty of our own nuts but I've never seen anything like that here. Secondly and most importantly I can't believe the Arlington PD didn't come down on them like a ton of bricks. The City of Arlington has ZERO sense of humor.I promise you somebody got in some deep shit for not shutting those guys down within minutes.

Ah, the Great American Spin Machine is now saying these were just friendly folks with guns gathered in a parking lot and had nothing to do with those women in the restaurant (who should know their place anyway).

Anent JerryB's comment, perhaps they just couldn't find parking in their own home towns and were forced to come to Arlington?

OK, let's violate the Godwin Rule. These people, and their Tea Party cousins, look to me to be the same sort of street muscle the brownshirts were for the German oligarchs who financed you-know-who. Who was it, Mark Twain?, who said history doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes.
