David Frum occupies a nearly identical ideological space as David Brooks:  both are imports from Canada, both are Jewish by birth and Tory by temperament,  both rose very high in the Conservative ecosystem by doing the basic partisan spadework of bashing Evil Liberals for hard, Right-wing chop-shows, both then found a way to use their contacts and utterly bogus Reasonable Conservative creds to trade up to tonier digs with better dental plans once the treacherous shit they were being asked to sling got too thick and heavy to sling.

Like David Brooks, David Frum is both psychologically and financially incapable of telling the simple truth about the awful mess we are in.  In a healthy society, a political journalist who cannot help but lie in print repeatedly and compulsively about one of the most basic and obvious facts of modern political life would quickly forced to find honest work in either the food service or phone solicitations industries.  But we do not live in a healthy society -- we live in a society where honest, political journalism has been largely replaced by the larger and more profitable enterprise of Lying about Centrism.

Like David Brooks, to prop up his lies David Frum must ignore the fact that the system is broken because his side broke it and want it to stay broken.  Like David Brooks, to prop up his lies David Frum must impute to Barack Obama magical powers which he could be using to end Washington's brokenness and redeem our political system if he just wanted too hard enough.  And like David Brooks, to prop up his lies David Frum must assign half the blame for Washington's brokenness to Barack Obama for his refusal to deploy his magic powers to miraculously transform the hearts of a Party of bastards who have sworn a collective and well-documented blood-oath to obstruct and sabotage him at every turn, regardless of the cost.

And like David Brooks, for his persistent hard work in propping up the Big Lie of Centrism, David Frum can expect to be richly rewarded for his labors for the rest of his life
