Professional Left Podcast Update
On Stitcher Radio, The Professional Left is now #71 in the News and Politics category, beating out the likes of Glenn Back and Neil Cavuto (to see the rankings for yourself, go here and click on the "News and Politics" category. That little flame next to our change in rank means, we're on fire! )
Our traffic has tripled so far this summer, so A) "Wow!" and, B) Thank you!, and if you use Stitcher Radio's app to listen to podcasts, you can improve our ranking by emailing the podcast from Stitcher to yourself or someone else, or share it via Stitcher on Facebook or Twitter.
Also, if you go to the Stitcher site and check out our category, one thing you will quickly notice is that virtually every podcast in the top 100 or so is either an extension of a much larger, established media brand, or uses an aggregation model to offer weekly samples of other podcasts.
This is not intended as commentary on the quality of anyone else's podcast (BG and I are both fans of several offerings on the list) but instead reflects my interest in the future of the media itself. Political podcasting appears to be on track to very closely mirror the arc which (much) blogging followed for the last decade: starting out as a democratizing, DIY technology used by outsiders to bypass, critique and positively affect established (and often corrupt) media and political institutions until it is reverse-engineered, exploited and eventually dominated by those same media and political institutions.
Ah, but this is all difficult to see, for always in motion is the future.
For now, suck it Cavuto!

Yeah buddy!
Those other yahoos are on their way down, and you and BG are on your way up!!! Kudos!
But THIS time, you're on the ground floor baby! Maybe you'll get Brooks' job when he is finally arrested after a bath salt frenzy.
Hey, this might become your day job.
Hey, this might become your day job.
I've been name dropping whenever I have had the chance, and I've seen you over on Hullabaloo recently where Digby gave ya a nice link and added you to her blog role.
It's good to see your podcast and blogs getting the traffic they deserve. You're stuff is my favorite thing to read.
Now if we can just get someone to pay you for it, there'd be just a little bit more justice in the world.
Noooooo! I officially put you where I put Metallica in the mid 90's. You are a sellout! You are ranked above some in the MSM. Does that make you the MSM?
Just kidding! You two are doing a great service. I wish the best for both of you. Keep up the good work.
Well done dg-bg. I hope your podcast continues to take off, and to pay off, for all your dedicated hard work.
