Great podcast as always, but one minor nit to pick - Jack Layton was not "some liberal up in Canada" Jack Layton was the leader of the opposition as the head of a social democratic party and the last best hope for the left in North America.
Thousands of people came to pay their respects Ottwa and Toronto, where the nation held a state funeral.
Check out his deathbed letter to Canadians in full at http://kevinswoodshed.blogspot.com/2011/08/rip-jack-layton.html or just about any Canadian newspaper site. It closes with this:
"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world."

Paperboy that's the quote they read on Democracy Now in the Dentist's office. I was not making light of his contribution but trying to get a word in with the hygenists, who didn't care, which was my point.

Fran, no worries - I got your point and laughed my ass off at the Jack Lalane stuff - I just wanted to sorta point out that Layton's passing was a pretty major deal up here in great white north and a major blow to the side of truth, justice, equality, decency and light. We now face the prospect of four years of Stephen Harper with carte blanche and a leaderless opposition.
