I listen to all your casts - good work (I obviously think...)

...but actually I don't think you get to pronounce upon 'audio' to anyone until you clean up your podcast intro. It's waay overloaded (as in blow out your speakers overloaded.) It requires your listeners to turn the volume waay down, then waay up again. Every cast.

It's not cute; it's amateurish. It's irritating. I don't mean the content, which is fine (and doesn't have to change.) I mean just normalize the level. It's easy. I could send you a better copy myself, but you'd still have to match the level to the rest of your dialogue. Which I know you are plenty smart enough to figure out. (Google 'audacity'.)

So please do it. Thanks much.

PS: There are several similarities between your cast and the Stephanie-Rude-Pundit cast - and this is one of them!

ok, driftglass...... your voice is so hot. I need to see a picture of you. To give you a prospective of what turns me on..... smart, progressive. I'm so pathetic, Al Franken has appeared hot to me.... (I've actually imagined how big his c@#k may be.) My hero's for this year are Sheldon Whitehouse, Henry Waxman and Russ Fiengold. And my life sucks because Scott Garrett is my Congressman. Welcome to my hell. So, back to my point..... your voice is very hot. I'm sure my husband of 19 years would not approve of this message.

Loved this cast, one of the best yet. I'd really like to hear some more about 'People of the Lie'. I'm going to try to read it.

Reminded me of a scene in 'Watership Down' where they discover one warren pays a terrible price for their free carrots. (Ok that's a little over the top)

Ditto on audio levels, Driftglass is always too hot. Maybe you could both skype in to equalize the levels. Otherwise you're going to have to start recording on two tracks.

Actually the 6yo is on a different track already so it's easy to bring her level down in audacity. I really think it's a matter of, I already mentally turn down her volume so much in my HEAD that I just don't hear it, so I'm glad daver stepped up and said something.

We've had lots of problems with levels but compared to what we recorded Thursday night this podcast sounds amazingly good in terms of being able to hear both of us. We also use levelator on the audio track before any audio is edited which also makes a big difference (thanks much to the listener who suggested that).

Anonymous, not to butt in, but my understanding is that DG's corporeality does not show up on film. ;)

My sister couldn't understand how I tolerated my 4 year old's "Rockin'Roll Elmo". I guess its like living near a train track: after a while you just don't hear the roar of the locomotive and the rattle of your windows.

Anonymous #1,
Pic available on my fundraiser post above.

Anonymous #2,
I'm putting together a longer piece of the "People of the Lie". Of course, the people that most need to face reality are the ones off of whom it will bounce, but one does what one can.

KWillow,
I lived inches away from the "el" for a few years. I never thought I'd get used to it, but lo and behold...
