RIP Walter Cronkite

Watch CBS Videos Online
Great as he was, it's not that there will never be another Walter Cronkite because he was somehow genetically unique; we shall not see his like again because our Big Media Keiretsu will no longer allow Cronkites to exist. With the death of Walter Cronkite we see the very end of the ethos that made Walter Cronkite possible.

And we are the poorer for it.

Yes, Poorer For His Passing, And His Absence In Our News.

He was my mentor, in Broadcast School, and before.

And After.

Bless him, and his scruples.

They don't come that way no mo.

As always you're right on. Thanks so much for your writing and the reference to "Keiretsu" that was learning for me.

We are. If for no other reason than Walter Cronkite's unbiased reporting on the insanity of Vietnam saved tens of thousands of lives.

Cronkite spoke many times after he retired about the state of the news and journalism. He said..to paraphrase..it sucked ass.

He was of course spot-friggin-on.
