Doesn't mean we can't dance!
(For those of you who may not be familiar with the phrase "Pick yourself up/ Dust yourself off" outside of our new President's Inaugural Address)
...
Work like a soul inspired,
Till the battle of the day is won.
You may be sick and tired,
But you'll be a man, my son!
Will you remember the famous men,
Who had to fall to rise again?
So take a deep breath,
Pick yourself up,
Dust yourself off,
Start all over again.

*grin* Thanks for the link!
Perfect. I watched the Inauguration with my dad, and he actually sang this song during Obama's speech... AND we referred to Cheney as Old Man Potter all day... I thought I was a genius... but I see great minds think alike!
Here's to President O, and most of all Steve Gilliard.
I skipped out on the first 45min of my class that I'm paying an arm and a leg for to watch ..... and I'm glad I did. They did watch in at the training, and I would have loved to be there with the international folks from denmark, sweden, canada, and south africa.... but I hear the teach cut off the speech! gah. Anyway, they were all thrilled for us. Had lunch with a lady from india who was a naturalized citizen like myslef.... and a kindred spirit. Perfect day for walking around saying PRESIDENT Obama!! Made the sports bar change the stations to Obama coverage for lunch and we took photos with today's newspaper. Loved. IT!!!
I just found myself getting a bit giddy during the class thinking what we've done here!
Most of all THANK YOU Driftglass for keeping our sanity during the insanity of those years gone by. I can't quite decide if I was more tickled that bush was GONE or that we have such a fucking STELLAR replacement. Both I guess. More about Obama and HOPE and a FINE assed speech!!! whoooooo HOOOOOOOOO! Going out the Gaslamp quarter to do some celebratin!!
what Myrtle June sed..
thanks for the (in)sanity checks and balances.
Speaking of cuh-Razzy, what a fine day it has been!
a day of wonder
one big step for a man, one giant leap for humankind, or sum such..
Since nobody else gave her credit, I will: the lyric to "Pick Yourself Up" is by Dorothy Fields. Gotta love a president who can go from Ecclesiastes to Tin Pan Alley in one speech.
