Debate

For ninety minutes
His blink/grimace router firing randomly
The crabby old man
Conjugated the verb “to fight”
Seven hundred times
Through teeth locked together
Like a jigsaw puzzle
Dipped in Lucite
Angrily conjured
Irrelevant ghosts
And tried not to scream “boy”
At the top of his antique lungs.

when he said Hussein was "eloquent" I drank, because to my ear, it came off pretty much same as if he'd said, "surprisingly well-spoken for a negro"

Dude, what's with this poetry shit? You trying to get laid or something?

No, no, that's "articulate".

"Eloquent" is equal-opportunity patronising.

Ok, that is quite wonderful. I'm not generally much of a poetry reader, and I have found forced reading... painful. But maybe I could learn to like the stuff. Thanks!
