The Phoneymooners

(click pic for poster-sized)

Sure, he’s wrong, shoots his mouth off without thinking and has nothing but crackpot schemes that will never pan out.

And she’s shrill and combative and pretends that she has finally had enough of his nonsense.

But in the end they'll go right on living together under the same, cramped, dingy political roof.

Because that’s the deal.

Because if there is anything the moral velociraptors who run Rupert Murdoch’s global propaganda whorehouse really, really, really don’t want, it's to be saddled with eight years of “The Awesome Adventures of Ed Norton” my friend.

You had me right up until the point where you equated Obama to Ed Norton.

I just don't see the correlation.

Oooo, be careful, driftglass. Use of the word "shrill" in relation to HRC will put "Our Girl's" language cops on your ass faster than she can shotgun a brewski at an Indiana VFW hall.

Res ipsa; "shotgun a brewski..."

That aint too shabby, either. :o)

Come ON, Hoosiers! DO it for us.

You can help rid us of this meddlesome, coronation-entitled, republican-lite priest(ess).

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm getting a little tired of the dem honchos wringing their hands about the ongoing primary fight hurting the party. I mean, it is, to some extent, but Goddammit, if they want to stop it, all they have to do is come out for Obama, and that will put an end to it.

E.G., Gore and Edwards KNOW that we have a great opportunity to hammer the republicans senseless for Iraq. In fact, we HAVE to hammer them for Iraq, to win this election, and to take advantage of the opportunity for a landslide.

And they fucking well know that Hillary aint GOT no hammer. for years she's been cutting it up into small pieces to try to trade to the other warpimps for votes. It hasn't worked yet.
How can she go after them, in the general? All they'll do is trot out the clips of her, shilling for the war, and of her vetting McCain as a potentially good commander-in-chief, and of her applauding enthusiastically for bush's last batch of SOTU surge-koolaid. (While Obama had the common decency to sit on his hands, as should have every human being in that chamber...)

We all know that Iraq is hanging by a thread, and that the only "plan" is for Petreaus to keep dumping our troops and our money into the "mission accomplished" meatgrinder, to try to give the people who created this misery time to get out of Dodge.

Why in the plu-perfect hell would we want to nominate someone who HELPED them gin up this bloody-assed Venusian fire drill, and who pimped for it like mad, until she started to see the mid-term poll-writing on the wall? It's insane, and the democratic "leadership" know it.

Withholding an endosement from Obama is NOT being "neutral"; it's increasing the chance that somehow, some way, the democrats will wind up with the only politician in America who can save the republican party. And, nominally, she's not a republican.

Watching this unfold is like watching some B-grade horror movie where the main character has gone bonkers, is sawing off parts of himself.

Clinton is not going to catch Obama by Denver. The math is utterly against her. If she wins both N.C. and Indiana, he'll still have a 100 delegate lead, and the superdelegates are, happily enough, starting to break toward him.
She's making political hay and gaining a little "momentum" by doing what the republicans have been doing for decades: using the MSM to appeal to the basest instincts and worst fears of the voters. At Digby's several posters had the intelligence and the memory to compare her to Richard Nixon. I loved it. It was spot on. :o)

But we need to have Gore and Edwards understand it, too, and to act on it. It's past time, guys.

Who's that white woman with Ed NortonObama? Come on 'glass, put Michele in there.

Hoosier Daddy?? Are there too many racists in Indiana to elect a black man? What a sad question at this late date in America, land of the, we are so like fooling ourselves we're free. But thanks for the impassioned comment, Tanbark.

Since my visiting hour is almost over, congrats, Driftglass, on 1501; and thank you for introducing me(us) to some of your history; so I read about Steve at Wikipee; and learned about his blogo-spawn. . . and it made me wonder what would happen to what I will leave behind some day, and how a blog may come to carry on. As usual, another thought-provoking visit.
Thanks for all those posts I haven't read, Drift, and thanks even more for all the ones I will.

Res: all the repubs can do is sit smug and watch it, and pretend that McCain is making BIG gains from it.

Influential democrats have the power to help end it, in spades.

That's what Joe Andrew was talking about, in his "defection" yesterday. And today, another former DNC Chairman, Paul Kirk, who'd been leaning to Obama, made it official and endorsed him. :o)

And, according to an unoffical count by the AP, Obama's lead in pledged delegates is 154. 1488 to 1334.

It's practically impossible for her to catch him, and if he goes into Denver with a decent lead, and she's nominated in back-room machinations, bye-bye White House and bye-bye democratic party.

There would be so many pissed off dems that we could dig up FDR's cadaver and start a third party with it. :o)

Nice post Drifty, for a 1501, anyways. ;-)

I think it's high past time, and I AM GREATLY DISAPPOINTED IN THE ENTIRE BLOGOSPHERE, that SOMEONE started publicly demanding an answer from Mr. Gore and Edwards as to why they WON'T reveal their hands.

I wanna know if it's fear of reprisal physically, politically, or economically.

I wanna know WHO they are afraid of. If it's fear.

I wanna know, if it's NOT fear, then WTF IS IT!!!

I believe the death of the DCMadam gives pause to thinking, If I say nothing, they won't hurt me. They'll hurt you damn straight if you have something on them, so you MIGHT as well lay out all your cards knowing yer dead meat anyway you look at it.

Time for SOMEONE to publicly raise the hue and cry as to:

"Why NOT Mr. Gore? Why NOT Mr. Edwards?"

WHY FUCKING NOT?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!

(btw, great comments one and all above)

Harumph.

Well, gore is busy putting together cute little commercials witht he likes of nan nan siting on a little couch with newt limbaugh...cooing to each other. And another one with sharpton selling his soul to the devil pat robertsonasshole. We can solve it dot org.... gore founded it. And NO, we sure as HELL can't solve it under the same conditions that fucking created it!!! So that's what gore is up to and why he can't come out and help fucking do what needs to be done here. I'm soooo over his non-fighter self.

And Edwards..... Mrs. Edwards said "Well neither of them think they could make a difference" and that john just wants his policies enacted... doesn't matter by who. However, that's just a bunch a false fufarahh because ONLY if hillary sits her ass down can anyone get anything different than what created the problems!!!!!

So, there they are..... not giving one shit about the people of this country just as long as they get what THEY want. Really its pretty fucked what's going on here. We got hillary crawling up mccain's ass with the gas tax holiday, mccain admitting we went to iraq for oil.... and all anyone can do is squaller about revi wright. fehhhhhh. media swiftboaters are doing well though.

So that's it.

They're all gone. Wasted. Corrupted. Complicit.

ALL. Of. Them. Each and every ONE of them.

NONE of them are for us.

The few who SAY they are, are marginalized.

Kuch.

Nan Nan came out hard recently against Shil's N McCains Holiday Gas Tax plan. OBOY!

While I like the effort, it's insane the chances she's had, and Reid had, and Conyers had, and Waxman had . . . well, you get my Drifty.

N fuck Lurita Doan, while I'm at it.

Fuck 'em all, for that matter.

They's no friends of mine.

So what's a sheeple to do against these odds?

Wake up, shake it off like a 90mph fastball in yer ribcage, take first base.

(n FUCK Roger Clemens for doing a 15 year old)

And when ya get a chance to move to second, make sure yer spikes are high, sharp, and you draw blood.

That's how the game's played.

A DCMadam dead. And now, a Venezuelan Voting Machine Owner is dead (see BradBlog).

People disappear. Keep yer spikes sharpened, folks.

N keep predators from yer kids. Damn that pisses me off. 'Kin Clemens. Sick fuck. String his ass up if it's true. No mercy. This is SO not about sports, but power, control and the abuse that comes with both.

Fuck him. Fuck ALL of them.

Harumph.

Obama is the ONLY candidate who's a threat to this wretched status quo. And I don't give a shit if HIS preacher is as mad as a hatter; that's reason enough to support him, John and Al.

"Why NOT Mr. Gore? Why NOT Mr. Edwards?"

Well, here's a possible why not. Perhaps they feel that Hillary has to be allowed to go down under her own steam. That if the party or the superdelegates call it for Obama at this point, it will allow Hillary's supporters to fantasize that she was actually turning it around and would have eventually won. They would feel robbed, cheated, betrayed by their own party. This might make them mad enough to stay home in November, or even defect, and that might give McCain his only realistic chance of getting into the White House.

Which would be bad.

The mistake most of you are making about Gore and Edwards is in assuming they actually give a good goddamn about anything but themselves. Myrtle June & Larue have the right of it here. Unfortunately.

Edwards, I admit I'm disappointed in...but Gore? I've despised him ever since 2000, when his idea of "campaigning" against Bush was to sit in an ever-widening pool of his own urine, with snot on his face and shit in his pants, wringing his hands and shrieking that he simply didn't dare fight back, he didn't dare, Oh, he didn't dare....because if he did that? THE BAD MEN WOULD BE MEAN TO HIM!

Gore scuttled offstage as quickly as he could in the aftermath of Bush's "victory" against him, not for any admirable reasons, but because the only people he actually cared about, the creeps who are his only real base, were the same ones who made their preference for Bush pretty plain. Gore would have been another Rich Man's President if ever there was one, just like his immediate 3 predecesors. Y'all sure as hell didn't think he'd stick to his guns and fight on your behalf, did you? No, the Upper 1% wanted Bush, and so Gore gracefully withdrew without so much as a hint of complaint...and found himself a nice little self-promotional gig as the "Champion" of the environment, in which he got to shove his feckless face in front of television cameras on a gratifyingly regular basis. So fuck him. And the rest of the Democrats.

I'm still hoping Obama will win because he's still the least destructive of the 2 Dems in the running right now, but Let's face it: It's going to be an unhappy choice come Election Day no matter what.

Enough reason for anyone who's interested in threatening the status quo.
The question now is whether that is a plurality yet.

My take on Gore/Edwards gives them more credit than perhaps they deserve. Their non-endorsement of the "mainstream" Democrat is a tacit endorsement of her opponent.

WHEN Obama wins, "they" (the ubiquitous they )won't be able to say he didn't win it on his own. He'll have ascended to the Presidency on wit, charm, message, a plurality, an electoral college win and folks, that's a mandate.
