I'm not waiting on a lady

I'm just waiting on a fiend...

It's just bad luck and bad timing that the standard-bearer the GOP Base is really, really, secretly waiting for has been dead for almost a decade.

He'll get more than a few write-in votes anyhow.

Oh, wait, this just in. The Base is illiterate. Sorry.

Didn't his views change before he died? I bet the base wouldn't like him anymore.

That Base (and is there ever a more evocative word that describes their strongest instincts?) is waiting for someone who doesn't really exist.

Even Wallace, the story goes, mingled with other races during his armed service years, but having lost an election back in his home state, declared that no one would ever 0ut-N****r him again.

And that's a promise he kept.

Wallace ran for the Democratic presidential nomination. Twice. He was not actually a Republican.

I'm dense, but why does opening a small business result in a Molotov cocktail being thrown through the front window?

..through the front window..., you mean generally, or in the context of racial desegregation?

All that said, after he became a parapelegic he really did a 180 on the racism thing. I can't tell you how many black Alabamians cried at his funeral. It was amazing to see.

Oh wait. Jeff Sessions is an Alabamian, a Republican, AND a Bush toadie idiot. Why not draft him for the GOP nod?
