CTA train hits man looking for cell phone

A man who had dropped his cellular telephone from a CTA elevated platform and had bent over to look for it was knocked unconscious by a Red Line train as it pulled into a station, CLTV reported.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. Monday at the Sox/35th Street station near U.S. Cellular Field on the city's South Side, police said.

The man dropped his phone on the tracks and was bending over the edge of the platform to retrieve it when the train struck him on the head, CLTV reported.

The victim was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he was undergoing tests this morning, officials said. He was expected to be released from the hospital later today.

It was not reported if the man got his cell phone back.

The reason I posted it was simply the last line of the story.
