It's Not Science Fiction, It Just Seems Like It

It's not from an adjacent dimension or an alternate timeline.

There was a time within living memory, kids, when intelligent people sat around tables having civilized conversations about interesting subjects.  And you could watch it on the teevee!

From 1982, this is Isaac Asimov, Harlan Ellison, and Gene Wolfe discuss science-fiction writing with Studs Terkel and Calvin Trillin on the Alpha Repertory Television Service (ARTS), the predecessor of today's A&E (Arts and Entertainment Network).

The program was called "Nightcap: Conversations on the Arts and Letters."

Enjoy.

Excellent stuff DG-Love the way they carry on talking as the credits and music rolls. More intelligent debate in 24 minutes than you get on most shows over the course of a day. Now I'm sounding like an old man-Which I am!

To me, this suggests a league of extraordinary Scientists should be formed . To Science the shit out of the GOP mystical evil force that has captured the base.
Apply science instead of political Gurus.
Develop a Manhattan project to create a artificial man made Black hole that can be controlled to engulf MAGA, TEA party, Snake fangs for republicans or whatever else they call themselves .
