The Plague swept the kingdom and the prince's subject were dying like flies.
Blood was its Avator and its seal — the redness and the horror of blood.
In response, prince lavishly provisioned his castle, then gathered all the fancy people behind the safety of its thick walls.
When his dominions were half depopulated, he summoned to his presence a thousand hale and light-hearted friends from among the knights and dames of his court, and with these retired to the deep seclusion of one of his castellated abbeys.
Finally, they welded the doors shut so no one could enter or leave.
This wall had gates of iron. The courtiers, having entered, brought furnaces and massy hammers and welded the bolts. They resolved to leave means neither of ingress or egress to the sudden impulses of despair from without or of frenzy from within.
Then they partied!
The prince had provided all the appliances of pleasure. There were buffoons, there were improvisatori, there were ballêt-dancers, there were musicians, there were cards, there was Beauty, there was wine. All these and security were within. Without was the “Red Death.”
But uh-oh! Spoiler! The Plague got in!
And now was acknowledged the presence of the Red Death. He had come like a thief in the night.
And that was that.
And one by one dropped the revellers in the blood-bedewed halls of their revel, and died each in the despairing posture of his fall. And the life of the ebony clock went out with that of the last of the gay. And the flames of the tripods expired. And Darkness and Decay and theRed DeathMAGA Republican Party held illimitable dominion over all.

This is the moral authority of the right wingers.
Except they demand and preach we behave as sheep ready for the shearing.
The congress GOP majority passes much of the onerous legislation for the Prez to sign. What they do not legislate (that is congress authority) they allow the Prez to act unitarily.
As, passing tax cuts. Permanent for the wealthy and temporary for masses.
Even though they tell us that tax cuts brings in more tax revenue for the government as they then, tell us what we cannot afford. Always affording what they want. Like Elmo's space X which they fund 40% of his operating cost at Space X with tax dollars or another farm bail out because of their economic trade/tariff crap.
They assure us that their spending are not socialism but they must cut Medicaid and let people (Americans) die just like when cutting USAID and foreigners died. For that is socialism.
The GOP lets the prez act with congress's authority and look the other way.
They won't vote to keep congress's power to declare war. They let the Prez impose his tariffs that are taxes on American consumers when it is congress that by the constitution has these powers.
But, they all point to the Prez to blame and let the GOP congress off the hook.
The 6 majority SCOTUS has seances with dead presidents and the ghosts tell them the 2 nd amendment means what ever they say it does. So criminal violent people buy and own and use those weapons to harm people.
And when C=SCOTUS gets mean or threatening phone calls or Tweets at them. They run to congress for more tax dollars for more security for themselves.
My wife has to grocery shop in a time where grocery stores are a target for mass shooters and she gets no extra funding for security let alone normal funding for security.
Each SCOTUS justice by their rules can purchase a weapon to defend themselves like everyone else.
They tell us about how immoral we are while they cover up the Epstein panphilia and prostitution by the wealthy who c=donate big to them for election. Now they sell pardons to the heinous sloths convicted by a jury of their peers.
Their is no doubt left that if the Prez pardoned Ghislaine Maxwell and forced Justice alito to retire so he could nominate Maxwell to the SCOTUS. The GOP senators would confirm her.
