“Attaining success in Hollywood is like climbing a gigantic mountain of cow flop, in order to pick one perfect rose from the summit. And you find when you’ve made that hideous climb… you’ve lost the sense of smell.” -- attributed by Harlan Ellison (may his memory be annoying) to Charles Beaumont, in Ellison's essay "Somehow, I Don't Think We're in Kansas, Toto" (restored version published as "Scenes from the Real World: 3" in Stalking the Nightmare [Phantasia, 1982; Berkley, 1984])
Longwell constantly protests about all the commenters who claim that she's dying to vote for Republicans again. But she never actually denies that it's true. Oh sure, she's NeverTrump, but she's plainly still got sneaky feelings for St. Reagan. Perhaps not as bad as Nooners' shoe fetish (she first saw Reagan as a "highly polished brown cordovan wagging merrily on a hassock" through a door), but if you put a Sketcher on Chris Sununu? Hmm?

Imagine climbing to the top of that shit pile, thinking you made it up without so much as a smudge . . .

That pile is going to get much larger before the Midterms bulldozer arrives.
