Love you guys and I love your podcast and blogs and appreciate all the hard work you put into both every single day. I do have to say, as a couple of hardcore Dune nerds, I'm surprised you misidentified the clip you played in this week's episode. Fran said it was from the Sci-Fi channel miniseries version, but it was actually Virginia Madsen's monologue from David Lynch's 1984 version.

That was entirely my fault. While I was prepping for the show I was juggling too many possible Dune videos from different versions trying to pick one and I just blew it and gave Blue Gal the wrong note. :-(

The hollowing out of the US military is destined to be a bigger story as religion and bigotry corrode the advantage our military enjoyed over the militaries of China and Russia where the upper echelons have been politicized for ages.
Today is fifty eight years since the killing of MLK.
I was seven in '68, so the events of that year didn't register the same to me as they did to my brother, who was eighteen and newly eligible for the draft.
I find it interesting that Fergus has resorted to saying he would "bomb them back to the stone age", because that is the tell: there were and still are people who believed that we could "win" Vietnam if only we would abandon restraints and unleash more violence on them. Paul Krugman has called this the "lethality fairy" (a callback to the "confidence fairy" that failed to materialize in response to austerity measures during the great recession). You can not bomb a populace, let alone a culture, into submission. They are never going to say "Oh well, they have air superiority, we have to give them everything that they want."
They are going to hate you for generations. Iran has already hated us for generations because of the last time we tried to make them do what we wanted them to do.
I know for certain that much of our military is fully aware of this, and that our veterans are aware of this. Working for Hegseth must be a living nightmare for them.
Thank you again for the podcast. When I was a kid I wondered how Hubert Humphrey could be a politician with such a weird name...

For the record on Artemis II.
The smartest republic businessman in the solar system ever, like no one has ever seen before.
Unbelievably at the start iof his 2nd term congress chose to deny the Great pretender his art of the deal to kill the Artemis II mission and put the money in the DOD so he can pilfer it. He wasn't to kill NASA completely. It survived reconciliation and the DOGE from destruction. Seems Artemis II has been in the works about 10 years and no one but the GOP stable genius wanted to kill it for the funding.
But look at him now, He can stay awake long enough in a press brief for 10 minutes to rub himself all over with Artemis II glory.

Meanwhile in his war to defend America from unfounded mail in voting fraud. The smartest republican like no one has never ever seen before. Is piling on more threats from his bone spur chair over the missing downed U.
s. pilot. Because his FOX wkend cohost drug addled now DOD Sec. who has been almost everywhere pronouncing threats that he will kill them so much there will be nothing left for their after life.
But most pronounced, his declaring NO quarter shall be given to any Iranian. Yeah, so his boss hog has to publicly warn Iran against the mistreatment of the U.S. pilot.
The Trump war doctrine of: I make the rules and you abide them until I exterminate all of you", is not quite the agreement they would accept. Besides, he has already displayed he is untrustworthy with any agreement.
Just wait until the GOP brings up a Israeli military funding aid bill to replenish all the Ammunitions they have expended on Gaza, Lebanon and Iran.

All that said, can I put a citizens tariff on presidential Executive orders?
You know, like a citizens arrest but a impsed tariff????

The smartest republican anyone has ever seen when asked of Iran war told us, "I felt that Iran was going to strike first, felt it in my bone spurs".
many MAGA deeply religious hail his Easter announcement , "If Iran does not open the Hormuz he will bring God's wrath on them sending them to hell" and to drive his holy point said, " I will send them to fucking hell if they don't".

when asked the end game and goal to victory he answered, "when I feel it in my bone spurs.
This Passover, instead of smearing goats blood around my front door. I think I am going to use RAID!
